Shares of Boeing tumbled Wednesday after President Donald Trump said he is grounding all Boeing 737 Max jets, following the second major crash within five months.

“Boeing is an incredible company. They are working very, very hard right now,” Trump told reporters in Washington on Wednesday.

POTUS on Twitter yesterday:

"Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT. I see it all the time in many products. Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better. Split second decisions are........needed, and the complexity creates danger. All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!"

This man find new reasons every day to make me LOVE him! Decisive. Caring (about the American people). Clear thinking and common sensical. And .... he does it all with ... IMPECCABLE TIMING via a vis the news cycle.... :>)

All I could find is the larger engines and their different position can cause the nose to pitch up.

Comet De Havilland redux.

That problem was a real one. This one seems, at worst, to be a training issue.

There is an 800MAX, and an older 800NG. The NG’s are not subject to this, and have been around a long time.

The MAX has a new wing and far more efficient engines, which IMO the issue is coming from.

SWA has less than 50 737 MAX 8’s in the air. Their fleet is over 750. Don’t think SWA is going to get hurt too much here.

BOEING better get back to the drawing board...if they don't fix this properly, and there is another accident, they will be looking at bankruptcy. And it would be deserved.

I don't care how much $$$ they lose, or how far their shares drop - they better fix this right.

Sw is going to start flying the 737-800 to Hawaii, I’m not sure if the 800 is the same as the MAX.

Not similar at all regarding what caused this. The max uses a completely different - and even larger - engine.

The 800 and others actually had to have the engine cowling “squished” a bit to get them under the wings with the landing gear length they use.

Was wondering about the FAA Administrator: Daniel K. Elwell

First the entire world grounds em. Then the Can-of-dians grounds em.

Maybe not a problem with an experienced pilot at a higher altitude. Otherwise, things could get hairy.

At least in the Indonesia crash, and from what it looks like so far in the Ethiopia crash, bad sensors are making the plane take control from the pilots, who don't have time to figure out the "pat your head, rub your tummy, jump up and down three times on your left leg" procedure to override.

What was the cause of the Ethiopian crash? Why would we ground aircraft if this was a bomb
? ( which I highly suspect). What is the economic impact on the nation with this decision? How many are out of work now? What is the end game if we don’t know the cause of the Ethiopian crash. This is half baked.

BA 52 Week Range 292.47 - 446.01

That’s a huge range.
