Lindsey Graham is doing what Arlen Specter wouldn't: helping A Republican President on judges

Posted on 03/13/2019 3:13:31 AM PDT by cotton1706

Lindsey Graham is moving conservative judges to the floor at a rapid pace.

Compare that to Arlen Specter, a militant liberal republican (and future democrat), who bottled up as many conservatives as he could, getting the "consensus" (i.e. moderate) nominees through first.

To be somewhat fair, George W. wasn't the greatest at appointing conservatives, but Specter was more than happy to slow-walk those that were.

Yesterday, the 3rd Circuit, which includes Specter's Pennsylvania, flipped from majority democrat-appointed to majority republican-appointed!

More progress to come!

Is it possible the President spoke to Graham about this , or is this all Graham and McDonnell?

Specter; a total disgrace. Did a lot of damage to the Republican Party. One of the first RINO’s.

“Specter; a total disgrace. Did a lot of damage to the Republican Party. One of the first RINO’s.”

The damage was also done by the Republican colleagues who ran as conservatives every six years and once elected, or reelected, through principles out the window in order to be good members of the club.

Since McCain went to his Maker, Lindsey has been a lot better...after the Kavanaugh fiasco, I decided to stop bad mouthing him or calling him “Linda” for at least until this new year...still haven’t felt the need to trash him....

Read an article yesterday that many of the recent appointees clerked for Justice Thomas.

And this morning this paragraph popped out
....The Ninth Circuit also had jurisdiction over certain American interests in China, in that it had jurisdiction over appeals from the United States Court for China during the existence of that court from 1906 through 1943...

HMMmmmm wonder if there is still some kind of influence Bet Di Chi would know!

I think he’s gearing up to be able to run for president, now that McCain is gone and not “next in line”.

It’ll never happen, but thanks for the conservatism in the meanwhile.

Specter started as a democrat and finished as a democrat.

He’s moving way too slow. How many has he moved out of committee since January? Only a handful. Many more waiting. There is a hearing tomorrow with only two circuit judges, but more ready and many more district judges waiting.

ONE hearing this week, what a joke

Several of the Circuit Courts are fine. Trump’s nominees to the 9th need to all be confirmed just to bring that Circuit court at least somewhat sort of close to balance. There will still be a Leftist majority but at least it won’t be so skewed.

I’m really hoping Trump gets to appoint a lot more to the 4th and 5th Circuits where Obama really did a lot of damage. Those need to be flipped back.

The 4th currently has a 9-6 democrat majority. But the 5th has a solid 11-5 republican majority, thanks mainly to Trump’s 5 nominations.

Support him when he supports us, but he has a lot of work to do to earn our trust. If he can.

I’ve been bucked up by the fact that Graham has mostly been pulling with POTUS. Simultaneously he has demonstrated a spine we had not seen.

Inspired by the 3rd circuit flip I worked out where we stand now on the Circuit court.

In the First circuit there are 6 judges 4D appointed 2R appointed. The oldest judge (D)is 86 years old.
Democrat Majority

In the Second Circuit there are 2 open seats, both with nominees in place and a pending open seat (Bush appointee), (going to senior status 5/19). There are 13 seats: 4R 7D 2 vacant. Oldest judges (D) 81,79 years old
Democratic Majority

In the Third 3rd Circuit there are 14 seat 7R 1D and 1 vacant set. The oldest judges(D) are 70,72 years. 1 judge just confirmed (Matey). Republican Majority

In the Fourth circuit there are 15 seats 6.5 R appointed 8.5 D appointed. Oldest judges(2 R 2 D) ages 75-79 years old Democratic Majority

In the Fifth Circuit there are 17 seats: 1 open seat, with no nominee. 5D appointed 11 R appointed. Oldest judge(D) 83 years old Republican Majority

In the Sixth circuit there are 16 seats: 11R appointed 5D appointed Oldest judges (Two 71 years old both D appointed) Republican Majority

In the Seventh Circuit there are 11 seats 9 R appointed 2D appointed oldest 3 judges R appointed 83,81,81 yrs all R appointed) Republican Majority

In the Eight Circuit there are 13 seats: 12 R appointed 1 D appointed Oldest judge(R)79 years old. Republican Majority

In the Ninth Circuit there 29 Seats 5 vacant of which 4 have nominees. Current Judges 8R 16 D appointed. When all vacancies are filled the tally will be 13 R to 16 D (7 justices are 82 years or older). Two of these judges are R appointed; the other 5 D Democratic Majority

In the Tenth Circuit there are 12 seats 5 R appointed 7 D appointed. Oldest judge(D) 78 years old Democratic Majority

In the Eleventh circuit there are 12 seats 6R and 6D appointed judges. Oldest judges are 90 years old R appointed and two 73 years old D appointed. Tied

DC 1 open seat confirmation vote today.

There are 5 Democratic Majority circuit, 5 Republican majority circuits and 1 tied circuit.

Several of the Democrat majority circuits are small majorities where 1 retirement during President Trump’s term would tie them: First Circuit, Fourth Circuit, Tenth Circuit There are also two where one Democrat appointee retirement would flip the circuits to Republican majority: Second circuit and Eleventh Circuit. The Ninth circuit will require two D appointed judges to retire to flip to R majority.

4 Bush 3 Trump 4 Obama 2 Clinton (1947, 1949) Republican controlled

Lindsey Graham cares about his country.

Nonsense. If Graham cared about his country he would have never aided and abetted the treasonous Mueller Coup with his public threat to POTUS not to fire Sessions.

Ya know, if Linda can keep this up for a few more years I might not donate to an opponent to primary her.
