Iwrote a book, The Case for Trump, in an effort as an outsider who has no career investment in Trump and has never met him or visited the Trump White House to analyze how and why Donald J. Trump was elected president and why his agenda so far has been successful. One Gabriel Schoenfeld has just published a hysterical attack on that effort in the Bill KristolCharles Sykes new Bulwark, and it is emblematic of that venues promised Never Trump ad hominem assault on individual supporters of the president. A writer for The Atlantic recently interviewed Sykes, noting:
But in the coming months, he [Sykes] tells me, The Bulwark will home in on a specific class of grifters and trolls those opportunistic Trump enablers who still get invited on Meet the Press and write for prestigious newspapers. To Sykes, these are the true sellouts, and he wants to ensure that their public flirtations with Trumpism leave a stench on them.
Though wishing to leave a stench on them, Schoenfeld instead gives us a sad exercise in self-abasement. And his review offers an illustration of the poverty of Never Trump personal venom and incoherence.

Has he accomplished his agenda? Even your own post admits he has not. You want to excuse it because of the corrupt judicial system, etc. But regardless the reason, his agenda has failed thus far.
Gripe, gripe... the glass is half empty. "it's been two years." Gasp! Two years is nothing. Are you a millennial or something?
DUDE! You have tunnel vision. Trump was elected on "Make America Great Again!" and building the wall and immigration control was only a small portion of that, not the "be-all-and-end-all" of his campaign. Candidate Trump made over 200 campaign promises all of which, including the Wall and immigration, are being moved forward, and YOU focus on just the most difficult to accomplish due to obstructionist action I outlined. Trump is good, but he cannot act outside the law, like a dictator, that YOU want. The wall IS being built and illegals ARE being turned away.
He has absolute 100% control over immigration and can militaries the border and shut it dow today, yet he chooses not to. Yeah, sure he can be impeached so bring it on and see if his support is real or fake, either way the Republic is doomed if we merely become El Norte Mexico.
Maybe you expect him to defy the Supreme Court that ruled against his policy on asylum seekers, that is the key to the whole border mess right now. I don’t expect him to defy a USSC ruling so I will continue to follow the progress of what is actually happening instead of blaming Trump. I have been dealing with border issues since the 1970s and we have never had a President work harder to secure our border. He still has my 100% support.
He's the little kid that got everything he ever wanted for Christmas except the Pony then claims it was the worst Christmas ever.......
Yea, and then what? Ya gotta think these things thru dude, stop with the emotion..........
No he doesn't. In fact, just the past couple hours the Senate voted to block his National Emergency.........Trump has said he will veto it.......
So what now ITSAHOOT?
He vetoes it and move on.
It will end up in federal court.
That’s what the cowardly RINO senators want. That way the press TV images of crying babies, bedraggled 3rd world mothers (who shouldn’t even be there!) be denied entry or deported will be laid at the feet of a mean old judge or a mean old Trump or both! The RINOs will cry “ It wasn’t me! It was those heartless meanies!”
Such is our leadership!
The Romans called their Senators the “Conscript Fathers of the Nation”.
Ours the “Conscript Toddlers of the Nation”!
Yes he does, he does not need a National emergency to shut down immigration completely. There has been several discussions even here on free republic as to why he has the authority including the Supreme Court rebuke of the Hawaii Judge that affirmed that power.
Then the people will either stand up or they won't, in the end the outcome will be the same.
I have thought it out apparently you haven't.
And do what?????
Operative word is “once”. Charlie Sykes seems to have cashed in his conservatism with the nomination of Donald J. Trump. He also left his weekly TV show (or they canceled it) and started taking truly bizarre political positions.
