Texas senator files measure to turn entire state into a “gun sanctuary,” nullifying ALL federal

As reported by The Free Thought Project, lawmakers in Texas have introduced a “gun sanctuary” bill that would apply to the entire state. If it passes, it would essentially nullify nearly all federal gun control laws within the state:

Sen. Bob Hall (R-Edgewood) filed Senate Bill 378 (SB378) on January 17. The bill would prohibit any state government agency, personnel or public funds from enforcing any federal gun control regulation or law “if the federal statute, order, rule, or regulation or international law imposes a prohibition, restriction, or other regulation, such as a capacity, size, or configuration limitation, that does not exist under the laws of this state.”

Legal opinions on this are likely to be all over the place, and of course, the Democrat Left will decry this bill as the first step toward anarchy. But by any legitimate measure, we’ve already reached that point.

I doubt any such incident will effect Texas. After all, the very first “mass shooting” of the modern ilk took place at the U. of Texas (Austin), and is colloquially known as the “Texas Tower” incident.

There was even a movie about it, which substituted the Louisiana state capitol building for the actual U of T tower.

You don’t hear about it, because the way it happened doesn’t fit the lefty script. After the nutcase opened fire from the tower, U. of Texas faculty and students retrieved firearms from their vehicles and SHOT BACK, forcing the “active shooter” to keep down and only shoot from drainage ports on the walled parapet. Civilian fire was kept up until the police could enter the tower and terminate the perp.

Note that all the writeups I can find online either do not mention the civilian response (Wikipedia) or drastically minimize its effectiveness.

Yep. That was back in the day when most of the pickup trucks in Austin had gun racks in the rear windows, and most of them actually did carry a .22 rifle, and the owners knew how to use them.

carry. Open carry with a permit is
nuts, much less their laws concerning
the transportation of a weapon in one’s
vehicle. Had a friend get busted for
simply carrying a pistol from his car
into a motel room.

The preferred term out West [as in Wyoming, where we've had *constitutional carry* since 2013] is Uninfringed Carry.

From that gentle but firm reminder, other constitutional infringements may also be dissolved.
