FEMA is refusing to pay California more than $300 million to repair the nation’s tallest earthen dam

In 2011, Jerry Brown was told that the Orville Dam had problems. In 2014, he got a major water bond passed, which included money to fix the dam. He refused to fix the dam. Then we had major rains, the dam broke and he wanted Federal funds. President Trump cut out over $300 million—because the damage was due to unrepaired portions of the dam, known since the official report in 2011. Jerry Brown was trying to steal money from the Federal taxpayers, to finance his fraud in passing a bond and not spending the money as advertised.

“The Trump administration is refusing to pay more than $300 million in federal funds California sought to repair the Oroville Dam, which suffered a spillway crisis in 2017 after heavy rains that led to nearly 200,000 residents getting evacuated downstream from the nation’s tallest earthen dam.

State officials worked to plug a hole in the flood-control spillway and put the estimate to repair the dam at about $1.1 billion back in 2018. But the Federal Emergency Management Agency plans to reimburse California for only $333 million of the cost, instead of the $639 million sought by the state.

The State of California could have prevented everything—including the one billion in property damage, if we had a governor that told the truth.

This is not a fed built dam, the federal bureau of reclamation did not engineer or supervise the building of this dam. It was totally and fully an effort of the state of california and is their responsibility to keep it in good repair.

They failed, and failed and failed again. They knew it needed a ton of work and passed bonds to fund that work then spent the money on other things.

Anyone and everyone who is threatened by this dam or has had a loss because to the failure should pursue litigation against those at fault, the state of Kalifornia.

THIS IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

If California insists on ignoring Federal Laws and refusing to cooperate with ICE, then FEMA should pack its bags and move out of the state and not return until California decides to rejoin the Union.

A fairly large skyscraper building can be built for that amount. Sounds very steep for an earthen dam. May be like the high-speed train project where it looks like the state planned to shut it down early and keep the Federal funding.

A consequence of living in a single party state. Thanks NoLibZone.

Wow, I thought $333 million approved was high, instead of the $639 million sought by the state. The Chrysler Building in NYC just sold for $700M.

Surely all the multimillionaires and billionaires in California that support Democrats and say they want to be taxed more wouldn’t be opposed to covering the bill.

You think Oroville damn is bad. The entire infrastructure of CA is crumbling before our eyes....

Wait... it’s Trump’s fault.

Dem supermajority in both state houses, all statewide office holders are Dems, all major metro areas total Dem party locks.

I know this may be controversial, but, didn't "moderate" president Jerry Ford say the same thing to NYC in 75.

It's a different time now, and I'm glad that good working Americans tell Kalifornia the same thing.

People need to stop caring about California, and the stupid things Dems do here. IT WON’T STOP, until the money is gone!

Then the unions will beg for federal dollars.

They only way to fix California is to hold the Whitehouse...and let CA spend itself into Oblivion!

Once it collapses...there is a small hope to fix it.

Dem party needs to be outlawed!

They are literally killing a state!

So all taxpayers are supposed to pay for dams that benefit a certain group of people. Why won’t they pay to build something in my neighborhood to the tune of $300 million. It is only fair. Right? Let the people who live there pay for it.
