The SDF has held off from a full assault for most of the past few weeks as many thousands of people poured from the enclave, including surrendering fighters, Islamic State supporters, other civilians and some of the groups captives.
By Sunday evening, no more people had come out, prompting the SDF to start its attack.

Last night (Monday night) was a big fireworks show. Machine gun music was near constant accompaniment. Looked quite serious.

Apparently, formal notification to ISIS was made of their timeframe to surrender, and they were formally notified that their time was up. A public announcement was made by the SDF’s official spokesperson for the Operation, Mustafa Bali, on Monday.
