Adam Schiff: Impeachment gamble not worth it without 'very graphic evidence'

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., rushed to the defense of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday, saying only "graphic evidence" would warrant an impeachment gamble against President Trump.

"In the absence of very graphic evidence, it would be difficult to get the support in the Senate needed to make an impeachment successful. Again, my feeling is let's see what Bob Mueller produces. But the evidence would have to be pretty overwhelming," Schiff told CNN.

Across the caucus, Democrats have been asked to comment about Pelosi, D-Calif., abruptly shutting the door on impeachment in an interview published Monday.

Now I’m convinced they got wind of what Mueller’s got cooking. They’re backing away to make it look more spontaneous when they go for impeachment due to his ‘report’.

It makes sense that someone would brief the top leadership.

The US Senate would accept nothing less than Extremely graphic, before the would entertain the question. The Senate majority reaching 2/3 Vote is a high hurdle.

This may be advance spin to lower expectations, so when Mueller produces a report with no conclusions/no evidence but a smidgen of innuendo, the Dems can act outraged/saddened/determined to proceed with impeachment because "the preponderance of evidence that something happened".

Or they really know they have absolutely nothing at all.

I too find the term "graphic" interesting specially combined with how Schiff emphasized/paused when he said "graphic evidence" during the interview.

Since the beginning, Schiff has pushed the narrative "overwhelming evidence." Today, it becomes "graphic evidence"

Is he signaling someone/entity to release a video/audio tape?

Or, as some has suggested . . . POTUS has something on one of their own. Are they saying . . . POTUS . . . if you release that tape (graphic evidence), we will start grounds of impeachment???

I am not buying into any new data or lack thereof from the Mueller report. They have a direct link to counsel, so they already know/knew the contents.

"I'm not for impeachment," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don't think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he's just not worth it."

Nancy has seen some sealed indictments that are going to tear her party apart, so she's making a last ditch effort to pretend that she thinks we should all just get along instead of going for skulls.

One of two things -—either they have some explosive evidence against him, and want to appear prudent and reasonable ( “We didn’t WANT to impeach him, but now it’s obvious we have no choice, and there is bipartisan support to get this done quickly!” ) OR, they have NOTHING, and want to make it look like there was never any intention of impeaching him; “we just needed to put all those rumors to rest, that were preventing us from all getting along, since we’re all working hard for you, the American people!”
I believe it will be the second scenario.
