The loss of two congressional seats and billions of dollars in federal funding are only two of the problems facing Illinois if it cannot get all of its residents to respond to the 2020 census.
Although the official count does not start for another year, the federal government and state and local governments are ramping up their efforts to make the next census as accurate as possible.
Activists, lawmakers and community leaders around the state, meanwhile, are fighting to address all the factors that might contribute to an undercount.
The census
The federal census is conducted every 10 years to count population and demographics for every household in the U.S. The data is used to reapportion congressional seats and distribute more than $800 billion in funds for more than 300 federal programs, according to a study by the George Washington Institute of Public Policy.

20 years ago, Detroit had a racket to pad their Census numbers because they wanted to stay above 1 million residents.
But it got so obvious and ridiculous that they had to give up the scheme.
Looks like Illinois is going to try it statewide!
I’m sure there are always undercounts in the ghetto. If people.dont respond to the census, then census workers are supposed to go knock on doors and get info. How many people go how deep into slum tenements to try to count people? That is dangerous work.
I’ve heard these stories surrounding the census for decades. Potential undercounts are nothing new.
Illinois is one of 2 states that has lost population over the last 10 years, numbers are accelerating since home owners are paying 5 to 10 times the amount of property taxes on the same amount of assessed valuation of other states and property values are decreasing. Illinois will lose 2 more Congressional seats after 2020 Census. Just fill out the number of people on your Census form and send it in.
Come on! ONE congressional seat? It matters about as much as a million Chinese.
Truth is, people are leaving Illinois.
There are two methods that the illegals play into the Census business. First, about a third of all states have a low density illegal situation....meaning very low numbers and it doesn’t help the state in getting more representation. Second, you’ve got five or six states with extremely high density illegals, and those states (particularly California, Florida, NJ, Georgia, NY, Illinois and Texas) are benefitting (each getting probably one to two additional Reps).
States like Miss and W. Virginia....are getting no real plus-up because of marginal illegals in the states.
if Illinois does not have enough residents they will just dig them up- as they do for most elections
One congressional seat is enough for the leftards to make noise. Need ONE example? Occasional Cortex.
That should raise the concern of a few illegal and send Democrats into a frenzy.
You nailed it, this is why the RATS are fighting to keep the citizenship question off the sensus.
Maybe theyll cheat like they do on voting. Count the dead and count the same people multiple times. And of course the wetbacks can always lie and say they are citizens.
Gotta count the illegal aliens.
Democrats depend on them.
Luis Gutierrez says Chicago is Mexico’s third largest city behind Los Angeles and Mexico City.

Trump should start talking about matching names on census replies with state birth records. Anything to keep illegals from responding. The latest estimate of the number of illegals living in the US is 22 million. The average House district comprises some 710,000 people. So the impact of all those illegals is just shy of 31 House seats.
The census taker gets the number of people in household that’s it. Not how many bathrooms, if we speak other languages, if we have a refrigerator. I hate census takers.

...
And the most important residents of all to the Dems are their illegal aliens.
They count toward their corrupt rule even if they don’t vote.
A Democrat President would support estimated numbers for percived uncounts.
Now a resident will fill census on line if they choose.
