President Trump on Wednesday urged fellow Republicans to stay united in the face of a Democrat-led effort to nix his declaration of a national emergency at the border.
Senate Republicans are not voting on constitutionality or precedent, they are voting on desperately needed Border Security & the Wall, he tweeted. "Our Country is being invaded with Drugs, Human Traffickers, & Criminals of all shapes and sizes. Thats what this vote is all about. STAY UNITED!"
The House voted last week to block Trumps emergency declaration, which could help free up billions of dollars to fund a wall on the southern border. The vote was 245-182, with 13 Republicans joining Democrats in voting for the legislation.
While most Republicans in the Senate have supported Trumps executive order, enough have expressed their disapproval that the measure could pass once it reaches the Senate. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told a crowd in Kentucky on Saturday night that he "can't vote to give extra-constitutional powers to the president."
"I can't vote to give the president the power to spend money that hasn't been appropriated by Congress," Paul said, according to the Bowling Green Daily News. "We may want more money for border security, but Congress didn't authorize it. If we take away those checks and balances, it's a dangerous thing."

Bush League Republicans have been united for 30 years blocking the citizens from stopping the illegal alien inundation.
They only unite to avoid social issues and condemning their own.
Stay united, yes! Remind them of folks like Heller here in Nevada and others that crossed Trump and his supporters. Trump should follow AOC lead, yes, and make clear he’ll support replacements if they cross him. Time to play some hardball with these limp-wristed Never Trumpers and GOPe. INCLUDING McCONNELL.
They’ve been pretty united at keeping the border open and the laws unenforced.
We would not have needed Trump if the GOP sided with the citizens and the rule of law.
The powers are completely Constitutional. The House and Senate approved the bill in the 1970s, or so.
Who would you replace Paul with?
A question PDJT, why is ‘your’ dhs granting asylum to illegals?
Why is everyone in congress saying we need to change asylum laws when you can order no asylums will be granted?
Herding cats would be easier.
a pigs anus
There can not be anything more useless on this planet than a United States Senator.
THE BIGGER DUMB SH*T IS TOM ‘THE TURD’ TILLIS OF NC - FIRST TERM SEN - WE PLAN TO MAKE HIM A ONE TERMER FOR SURE! Up for election in 2020. His liberal staff is a bunch of jack *sses to boot!
Rather have a dem senator who is at the least what he says he is instead of a lying rat bastard!
This is a foreign invasion. Does Trump also need congress approval to retaliate a nuke attack? That Senate is unconstitutional. Take it to the Supreme court.
I just e-mailed Jerry Moran of KS and told him to stop being an obstructionist to our President and our freedom. Among other tidbits.
