Queen guitarist Brian May said he was shocked into silence by the media's behavior during Oscars season, and said that vitriol and dishonesty had left him saddened, even after Bohemian Rhapsodys success at the awards ceremony last month.
The biggest-grossing music biopic of all time won four Academy Awards after Queen and Adam Lambert had opened the show last month but afterward, May found himself unable to explain how he had felt in the preceding months.

Rami Malek Nailed Freddie in every way possible. At times when he was on stage I thought it was Freddie and they spliced in actual footage of him in concert.
For him to complain about a lack of honesty is beyond ironic.
May argued that the vast majority of press and online discussions leading up to the Oscars was aimed at discrediting one or other, or all of the nominated films by innuendo and smears, rather than discussing their merits and admiring the skills that went into making them.
He added that vitriol and dishonesty, and blatant attempts to shame and influence the members into voting the way they, in their arrogance required them to. Its not the fault of the awards panels they stood up well. Its a kind of vindictive sickness that seems to have gripped public life.

That’s the way it is when Liberals control the MSM.
Its a kind of vindictive sickness that seems to have gripped public life.
The media is just evil. Anyone with clear eyes should see it. Heck, even if you really like Hillary, an honest person should despise the press. Of course, no honest person actually likes Hillary, so ...
Elaborate and give links please
“May insisted on the whitewashed fairy tale of Freddie Mercury’s story. “
That was Freddy’s family, not any member of Queen.
Freddy’s family owns “Freddy Mercury”. And no depiction of him could be made without their total consent.
More like a cartoon than a movie.
BTW, the movie was great.
It had my vote for best movie, best actor and, of course, best soundtrack.
The homo stuff was a real negative, but I was able to turn away.
Welcome to Hollywood, Brian, an American Tradition.
It’s sort of like a Trade Show.
Everything you described is what happens every year during the awards ceremonies. The same thing probably happens in England too, albeit on a much smaller, and more predictable scale. The Entertainment world is a tough business.
In this case, being too liberal or too anti-conservatives has little to do with the pushy marketing that all big movie studios engage in.
You come from the top level Rock & Roll world, surly you must remember how a good agent will talk up his clients and talk down other performers. Maybe your manager shielded you from the dark side of promoting. It’s nothing new, just bigger, bolder and louder.
He'll always be "Snafu" to me.
Mr. Malek is a big future ahead.
I’m curious how the upcoming Elton John movie will treat the subject.
If you didn’t see “The Pacific”, you should see him in that one. He was fantastic, had the Louisiana accent down pat.
“May insisted on the whitewashed fairy tale of Freddie Mercury’s story. Any truth telling about his unbridled hedonism and how it killed him was forbidden.
For him to complain about a lack of honesty is beyond ironic.”
INDEED!
Freddie Mercury in his day made Charlie Sheen look like an innocent choir boy. Mercury got AIDS because he had sex with as many people as he possibly could. He preferred men but slept with women as well. He had sex with likely hundreds if not thousands of partners in a very short time. He was what is called a “TRY Sexual”. He was willing to TRY ANYTHING sexually. This careless, stupid, and destructive behavior cost him his life.
You are 100% incorrect. You obviously didnt see the movie. Unbelievable. This gets so old having to see posts just because someone wants to add their two cents to a conversation without any knowledge of the article or subject.

Speaking of Reginald, a friend of mine does an outstanding Elton John tribute. I will use this occasion for a shameless plug:

Any port in a storm?
Brians complaints sounds a lot like how the left nudges you to vote the right way!
I thought the movie was excellent! I love Freddy Mercury and believe the world has been deprived of his talent too soon. To be honest, Im glad the movie didnt show a bunch of the gay side. The movie was about Queen the band, not Freddy the gay man. Would you have wanted to see it if it took the rainbow path? Not me.
