Using 'eco-friendly' products to 'kiss and make up to the planet' for going off on long-haul flights will NOT make up mankind's environmentally damaging habits

Labels such as 'eco-friendly' cause individuals to chase misguided quick fixes

Study found best intentions are counter-productive when it comes to nature

Says stricter legislation would be a better way to guide consumer behaviour

Environmentally conscious individuals who purchase eco-friendly items in a bid to cancel out their negative impact on the planet are damaging the natural world even more.

That is the claim from a study which found the guilt we feel about our carbon footprint forces people to pursue quick fixes in a bid to balance out their actions.

People use mental 'rules of thumb' in the hope the good outweighs the bad.

It found that buying products labelled as 'environmentally friendly' are actually further damaging the environment - not fixing it.

'People intuitively think the environmental burden of a hamburger and an organic apple in combination is lower than the environmental burden of the hamburger alone - or that the total emissions of a car pool remain the same when hybrid cars are added to the pool,' says Study leader Professor Patrik Sorqvist, an environmental psychologist at Gavle University in Sweden.

This leads people to pursue misguided quick fixes to get over eco-guilt.

Don’t we just have to buy our carbon credits with Al Gore, and then all is well????

A person’s “environmental footprint” is directly proportional to the sum of the amount of money that person earns and spends.

Anyone who was truly interested in minimizing their “environmental footprint” would earn as little money as necessary and spend as little money as possible.

Anybody who isn’t doing that and claims to be concerned about the environment is a an environmental poseur.

carbon credits is going to be the vehicle through which a one world order/Anti-Christ cripples everyone financially, hard enough that they turn in desperation to the gov and take the mark so they can eat, buy fuel, and stay warm in winter-

It’s coming- The lie of ‘man-caused climate change’ is now fully entrenched in the world

The Catholic church used to sell indulgences - it was one of the bigger issues in bringing about the Protestant Reformation.

So you can fly on your vacation but you have to wash your clothes on a rock the rest of the year to make up for it.

I’m always in favor of stricter legislation to guide my behavior. I couldn’t brush my teeth without the government standing over my shoulder.

Anyone who claims to be environmentally conscious with a mega huge closet filled with a boutique amount of clothing and shoes and who goes to the salon to have their hair styled, fake nails and pedicures and who eats out every day and tosses half their food in the trash is a hypocrite.
