Politico Shocked To Find Black Gun Rights Activists At CPAC

Gun rights are human rights, and it doesn’t matter the melanin content of your skin. These rights belong to every one of us by virtue of us being human.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that people didn’t always think that way. I know good and well how true that is. I’m from the South, after all. Our history on the topic is inescapable down here. I’m OK with that, though, because it’s a status that never should have been.

But today we know better. We know that rights either apply to everyone or they apply to no one.

Despite that, it seems Politico was a little surprised to see black gun rights activists at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

For a few minutes at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday afternoon, the message was more Malcolm X than William F. Buckley.

Sporting a red hoodie, his hair in cornrows, Maj Toure touted his group, Black Guns Matter. “We go where there’s high violence, high crime, high gun control — high slave mentalities, to be perfectly honest,” he said, “and inform urban America about their human right, as stated in the Second Amendment, to defend their life.”

A besuited interviewer seated on stage next to Toure told him, “You don’t look or sound like your stereotypical Second Amendment advocate.”

Indeed, Toure could not have looked more out of place at an annual conservative-activistconfab known for drawing throngs of clean-cut, mostly white, young conservatives in drab suits. That was precisely the point.

Opinion polling shows that black Americans view guns more negatively and are more supportive of gun control than whites and Hispanics. But some anecdotal evidence suggests that blacks have shown greater interest in gun ownership in recent years...

Absolutely racists! They expect ALL black people to be hard left Democrats just because they’re black.

I know a lot of smart black folks, and most of them are quite conservative, and vote thusly.

“I’m a White NRA member...As long as a US citizen can honestly answer the questions on the ATF form 4473 and pass the instant check...Gun ownership is the right of all honest US citizens. It’s the criminals and other people who should not possess or wrongly use firearms that are the problem as to violent acts against others.”

Criminals with bad intentions will acquire firearms if they wish to do so. No law will stop them from doing just that.

I can’t emphasize that enough.

What if a felon is released from prison after his (I will use male gender for brevity, he could also be a woman) sentence is served and he goes back to his hometown neighborhood where his family lives to get a fresh start at adulthood. There are people in his past that have different ideas, and pose a threat to his life; whether to take revenge for his having turned state’s evidence, or to “recruit” him for continued service in the criminal element from which he is trying to escape among other scenarios. Do you want this person to rely on the police to protect him 24/7? Or do they have to break the law in order to have the protection that owning their own firearm/s offers?

When someone is convicted of a crime, there should be specific consequences for that offense. If that person is deemed fit to return to society after a certain period, he should have all the rights of any citizen. If said convict is deemed not fit to own a firearm, he should not be out of a detention facility. And at that, due process needs to be adhered to strictly.

Laws restricting rights do not prevent crime.
