The Kentucky House of Representatives passed legislation Friday to eliminate the states requirement to obtain a permit in order to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense.
The House passed the legislation by a vote of 60-37.
Breitbart News reported that the Senate passed the same legislation in mid-February by a vote of 29-8.
The Hill reports that the legislation would allow law-abiding Kentuckians 21-years-old and older to carry a gun for self-defense without first getting documentation from the state. Permits would still be available, for those who want the reciprocity benefits, but they would not be required for the purposes of being armed for self-defense.
The push to eliminate the concealed carry permit requirement rests on the sufficiency of the Second Amendment right to bear arms. State Rep. John Blanton (R) said, This is simply applying and acting upon a constitutional right that each and every one of us has.

Good for Kentucky.
One of those men should step up to challenge McConnell.
No shit.
Constitutional carry. In Alaska, we inform police if we are carrying so there arent surprises. No guns in bars or in state or federal buildings, just a good idea.
Slightly off topic but a recent article on Drudge discussed robots that can attack. That means we citizens need big weapons more than ever!
a gun sanctuary state!!
Someone wake up the flatliners in the Texas State legislature.
LOVE IT!!!!!!
Does it have to pass the Senate too and will it?
It already has passed the Senate. “Breitbart News reported that the Senate passed the same legislation in mid-February by a vote of 29-8.”
Oklahoma just passed constitutional carry becoming the 15th state to do so IIRC. Kentucky would be the 16th.
Man, I wish my state had the sense to do this!
Good call.
Uh, it already did. Sometimes we have to read ALL the words in a post. LOL! I miss a lot of them sometimes my own self.
Things are getting worse in NV instead of better. Vegas control!
I’m guessing most of us here who have them will continue to keep our CCDW permits in force. I travel outside the state and I intend to be a legal carrier in all of the states that honor KY permits.
I am sure that the drivers of the clown cars that are Louisville and Lexington are gnashing their teeth over this. This one’s for you John Yarmuth.
Same here in the Soviet of Washington. We recently saw an initiative (pure democracy mob rule) pass that requires background checks for all firearm sales - no more private sales. Further, I can’t even loan a firearm to anyone outside of immediate family - and they’re shooting for that too!
We backslid 15 years in the last 12 months...
Hell, I might move. From Texas.
Go, Kentucky!
And our own robots. :)
How did we get to the point in this country where a sentence containing the words “ legislation would allow” in reference to your God given right to self preservation?
