President Trump is imposing financial sanctions on six of Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduros top military and internal security officials, the Treasury Department announced Friday.
We are sanctioning members of Maduros security forces in response to the reprehensible violence, tragic deaths, and unconscionable torching of food and medicine destined for sick and starving Venezuelans, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said.
The move came the same day Trump's State Department announced it was expelling dozens of Maduro loyalists from the United States.
The new Treasury blacklist includes a major general with the Venezuelan National Guard, three senior officials responsible for Venezuelas internal defense, and a colonel in the state national police force. The United States also sanctioned a commander of the FAES, a special police squad known for their violent role in suppressing dissent from Maduros political opponents, stated the Treasury Department bulletin.
The United States strongly supports the efforts of Interim President Juan Guaido, and Treasury will continue to target Maduro loyalists prolonging the suffering of the victims of this man-made humanitarian crisis, Mnuchin said.

Still getting used to a President DOING instead of posturing.
I wish I was more like Trump :)
He is the ONLY president who will go on speaking engagements after he’s out that i would pay to see.
They will likely be life altering for some.
There’s only one Alpha dog in our government.
He’s it.
Great news!
Of course. :)
And I didn’t know the Einstein of our day was supporting him!!
I’ve changed my opinion on the whole subject.
On my whole outlook on life!!
SMH
sounds good, but really not so sue what specifically it means.
Trump is putting pressure on Maduro’s top supporters.
I think Trump knows he has the peoples backing when ever the dust settles enough for him to reflect..which unfortunately isn’t often enough.
I wish he would go with his instincts more instead of what “advisers” tell him.
They never seem to advise well or on our behalf.
Maduros top military and internal security officials are loyal for only one reason.....$$$$$$$$$......cut off that supply and use of and they will fold ...
*Keeping in mind that Maduro has been begging at Putins doorstep for funds.
The answer is no....
However Russia and Turkey likely propping up for awhile but that won’t last either. Have they shut down the banks yet?
I think he’s doing fine balancing what he has to......though of course some things will fall aside to pick up later on....matter of priority. Am trusting God and Trump to discern his advisors.....so far I’m very satisfied with how things are going.....in fact if he never does another thing he’s already done more than any for this country in decades!
Every word you wrote was correct.
Even if these sick animals got their way and booted him, which they won’t, he’s changed the SC for a generation.
But boy would I like RBG to drop to REALLY seal the deal.
From what I can tell, Venezuelan generals have been threatened with having their families tortured.
Cuba provides the real and nasty shell around Maduro. I say Identify and sanction the Cubans who are directing things such as assassination and torture. Knock the Cubans off and Maduro no longer has enough fingernails to hold onto power.
Cuba is the problem.
