“Why gun control will FAIL: People will simply refuse to obey unconstitutional laws (thank Dems)”

We’ll see. Something tells me the Democrats will not simply shrug their shoulders and say “oh well” when people ignore their latest gun laws.

...and keep in mind their strategy - they don’t need total compliance, initially, all they need is to gradually make gun ownership more of a hassle, a risk, and/or more costly. And, as the number of gun owners drop, their political power drops with it. And when the time is right, they can turn the screws and start calling in the weapons. Sure, many won’t comply, but EVERYONE will look at their guns differently. No longer will they be simply instruments of self-defense. Instead they will become high-risk items to have a around, like having controlled high explosives without a valid reason. That will really kick-in as they see people just like them going on trial, and then being sent away for years, for doing something that used to be legal, such as owning an AR, or maybe even a revolver (at a minimum it will have to be registered) - people who were upstanding members of society in every other way, but only wanted to still be able to protect their families.

So, no more trips to the range, no more talking about the guns you own (as anyone you know could turn you in), very limited talking about gun rights (since that can also raise suspicions) and very, very, careful thought about using the firearm for self-defense (i.e., if it’s not your own life or family’s live at risk, you could easily end up with more jail time than the bad guy...since you’re now considered even more of a ‘bad guy’).

And then, after that, the VERY TEMPTING buybacks. That AR is now worth either $1500 at the buyback, or 5 years, if caught with it. So yes, there will be holdouts, maybe 10% of owners. But they’ll be easy to pick off - new laws will allow K-9 searches based on anonymous tips, and the already 5 year sentence will become 10 years, maybe even 20. Sure, none of this is Constitutional, but then we’re not the legal judges of that, they are.

And then it’s over. Sure, crime will be through the roof, particularly gun crime, but that simply justifies even harsher laws. Never any thought of restoring gun rights, since, after all, once disarmed, the last thing that people will want is for it to get easier for ‘those people’ to get even more guns.

We're already seeing that attitude in the newly-minted Dem-controlled (house/senate/governor) government in New Mexico.

These same Dems who rave about ignoring immigration law and create sanctuary cities/counties are now ranting about counties voting to become 2nd Amendment sanctuaries as the new admin is going full-tilt on anti-2nd laws. They're basically saying that they have ways to deal with these counties violating their laws, but mumble off into the sunset when confronted with their flouting of laws they disagree with.

No, they will send people with more guns to your home to take your guns away.

And don't tell me that cops won't enforce 'unconstitutional' laws. When their pensions are on the line, they'll do what they're told, and shoot your family dog in the process.

That's a BINGO. The battles in the state legislatures are the diversions. The real objective is a national firearm registry. You have to know who has the guns before you can seize them. Once the Demonrats overturn the federal regulations protecting the confidentiality of the ATF 4473's and the FBI's NICBCS digital inquiries, the national firearm registry will be created. And just like the NAZIs, communists, and jihadis, they don't need a complete list of firearm owners. They will simply employ terror on a few selected high profile citizens to intimidate the sheeple.

12 No, they will send people with more guns to your home to take your guns away.

Not at first. They will simply apply the financial screws to the known firearm owners who don't comply with the surrender proclamation, i.e., weaponize the IRS, again, to freeze bank accounts, Social Security checks, tax refunds, SNAP checks, Medicare/Medicaid/ObamaCare health insurance benefits.

No reason to endanger your LEOs at the beginning.

Your demoralizing screed sounds just like the sort of thing a deep state leftist plant would say on a patriotic forum like this.

If you’ve truly surrendered, then go quietly and await your fate, but stop telling better men that the cause is lost.

It’s exactly the sort of demoralizing doom and gloom you vowed you’d never allow on Free Republic.
