How House Republicans are making life difficult for Democrats, Pelosi
Fox News ^ | February 28 2019 | Chad Pergram

House Republicans are driving Democrats crazy, and driving a major wedge through the majority party.

GOPers are using a garden-variety procedural tool to goad Democrats into taking challenging votes on the floor – and risking the defeat or alteration of legislation which is on the verge of passing.

The parliamentary gambit is called the "Motion to Recommit," or MTR as it’s known in congressional shorthand. MTR's must be "germane" and tied directly to the legislation at hand. In short, an MTR can't deal with cats if the bill deals with dogs.

RINO Ryan would never allow this to happen.

I see President Trump might be wearing off on these Congressmen. They are starting to fight.

"House Republicans are driving Democrats crazy, and driving a major wedge through the majority party."

What's that you say? Republicans are giving Democrats wedgies?

If only the Republicans would have shown so much backbone before the election, there might not be a Democrat majority now.

Republican is a "brand". Many of the Republicans in the House simply used the brand to get elected. They have no principles, and were much more concerned with how the Media treated them than with what the base of conservative Republicans wanted.

Democrats typically do not have this problem, as the Media and the Democrat party are completely interwoven. I suspect the Media drives Democrat policy much more than party Democrats drive Media policy.

The more conservative media is created and gains market share, the more we can expect from Republican legislators.

Pelosi saw this coming and let it happen. There are too many districts where moderate dems hold office and if the MTR didn’t happen, seats could be lost in 2020. Pelosi has a very sick caucus right now and has to weigh the Marxist threat within the party against the traditional liberals within the ranks.

I think the one person that is really, really pissed off about all of this divisiveness within the party is Hoyer. He should be leading the party, not Pelosi.

Part of the reason the Republicans are more successful with the MTR is that (generally) the House Republicans have a 10% higher IQ than the Democrats. AOC.

I’ll bet that some of the House Dems look at some of the MTRs and wonder how the magic happened. Waters.

There are ways to fight even in the minority.

The Dems have been masters of that over the decades. They always act as if they rule the roost no matter if they are majority or minority.

Reps, on the other hand, rarely act as if they are in charge even when they win the House (cf. Ryan).

What they are doing here with the MTR parliamentary tactic is outstanding! Finally they are taking the battle to the enemy.

Exactly right! They were their usual complacent, go-along selves when they had the majority in the House. Doesn’t that just make you sick?
