A state employee complained that the wife of embattled Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam reportedly handed the students cotton and asked them if they could imagine what it must have been like to pick cotton all day.
Leah Dozier Walker, an official in the state Department of Education, said that the incident demonstrates that the Northams have not learned from past actions.

Not a great month for the Northams.
That is some of the funniest sh*t I have seen in a long time! If you bleeped all the bad language the vid would be about 10 seconds instesd of 2 1/2 minutes.
We also played at Plattsburg once or twice. We loved Maine though. Loring was sort of like our New England home base. We played at just about every military base in the lower 48. I think Minnosota was the only state we missed. You were at Loring before we started playing there. I’ve wanted to write about our adventures, but I’m forgetting the names of all the people we learned to love along the way. Need to pull out the box of memories.
Imagine....Its easy if you try.
Cotton picker, ha ahaha . Women who pulled the string off!
It’s an educational experience and an exercise in empathy. I can’t imagine why this should trigger someone but some people are just unhappy and look for things to complain about.
Agree, but the VA Dems have no one to blame but themselves for the chaos and heartburn. While they suffer, it's harder for them to do more mischief to everybody else, and 2020 is coming.
I spent a summer in Marana, AZ putting in irrigation pipe in the farm fields, I can relate.
First, if you did need manual labor for a farm operation....other than Mexican labor (illegally in the country), that’s your only option.
Second, you can do the math with salary to cotton-picked ratio, and attempting to hire six people (paying them minimum wage) simply doesn’t make sense with the cost of machinery as it is today.
My dad, years ago, got into a chat one day about the ‘rules’ of life, and how kids skipped roughly two to three weeks of school in the 1930s/1940s era to pick cotton off their farm, or the neighbor’s place. The pocket-money you made off this effort, usually went into a big day at the county fair.
Oh when them cotton balls bet rotten
You can’t pick very much cotton
In them there, ol’ cotton fields at home
Spike Lee vented outrage at the Oscars that “Black History Month” occurs in the shortest of the 12 months.
so did Halle Berry when she stole the oscar from Sissy Spacek. Actually I believe she said “why do we only have 1 month?” but I could be wrong.
Mrs. Northam has no common sense.
why do we only have 1 month?
Because gay people need a month and women need a month and indian natives need a month and pacific asians need a month and hispanic lantixes need a month and anybody but straight white males needs a month.
whaaat? women get a month ?? I don’t even get the day off for Mother’s day. and that’s confusing for trans folk.
That’s what bugs me: the abject stupidity displayed.
Some possibilities: she’s truly an idiot; just wants to stick it to hubby; either/both have aides who just want to stick it to either/both.
Something’s rotten in Richmond.
Womyn also get Lenin’s Communist “International Women Workers’ Day” and stupid corporations are now ‘celebrating’ it and using the day to indoctrinate employees.
Arizona has cotton fields?
The Noxious weed in question . Is this what she showed the children ? Was it a bolt of cloth, a cotton ball , or ear swab ? Was the child traumatized and require counseling? Sheesh.
And let's not forget the dishonest campaign ads with the confederate flag and the poor minority children.
We used to. Phoenix was surrounded with cotton fields
