Verizon customers in Michigan are reporting a service outage Wednesday around the state.

Customers have reported service outages across Michigan, according to DownDetector.com, a user-generated outage reporting site.

Verizon confirmed the outage in a tweet to Local 4: "Verizon is currently experiencing a wireless network issue in your area. Our technicians are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it quickly. Thank you for your patience during this time."

Most of the outages are in the Lansing area, but users have reported outages from all over the Lower Peninsula.

Check back for updates.

Today, maybe, but the rest of the time I find Verizon’s coverage, especially in northern mid-Michigan to be far superior to Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile.

I find Verizon has the best coverage when you get out of the Michigan Metro areas of GR, Lansing, and Greater Metro Detroit.

In an effort to outsource to India, Verizon gave their IT voluntary severance offers and most left December 28th.

Glad I went with AT&T.

Have had AT&T since we first started using cellphones in California. When a cell tower went in a half mile away from home, our cell reception was splendid.

Fast forward to four months ago when we moved to Texas in Leander. Brutal cell reception in the house we're renting. Cell calls drop a lot or are not very clear. The area where we're building a house (still in Leander) has several dead zones. You can drive through the neighborhood, and at some point during the drive your cell call will drop out.

Our daughter (who works nearby) has a cellphone under Google Fi, and it flawlessly changes networks as needed. My wife used her cellphone at our rental to make an important call for some changes to medical insurance with our move. Cellphone and network worked perfectly.

After we move, I think we're moving away from AT&T. It's awful out here.

I found out the hard way. My car is in the shop and I was wondering why they hadn’t called. I realized after about 20 min that Verizon was down. Fortunately I have the Comcast bundle which includes phone service. I seldom use that one - usually just to find out where I misplaced my phone. Sure was glad to have it today.

Anyway thanks for posting.

I live out in the woods. Seven miles from a cell phone tower. Trees all around.

Had AT&T and poor coverage. Switched to Sprint - poor coverage.

Went to Best Buy and dropped about 500 smack-a-roos for a weBoost cell phone booster.

Best expense I’ve expended.

Now I can tell annoying sales call people to go to hell and be understood. I’m loving my weboost.

So much for all those that dumped their landline service.

I went with AT&T because Verizon doesn’t currently serve the northern thumb. It would’ve been less expensive too. But it’s useless when you can’t get service at home.
