Me too; I thought it was communism that turned Russians into jerks. I was wrong. That chorus lamenting America’s existence for 500 years proves that Russian think they hung the moon and we just got in the way of their imperialistic ambitions.
Their Church is also supremacist and imperialistic; Russia forbids missionary work by other denominations; they regard Moscow as the “Third Rome”. There’s a Russian Orthodox church in my not so large Southern city. On their website the very first option is how to convert to Russian Orthodoxy!

Well yes, Russia is a big frustration, and pisses me off a little for how much they have ripped off foreign investors over the decades. As for the Russian people, they love this guy Putin, so to hell with them.

That is only true in case you share Bush II vision of democracy: ‘An Iraqi style’. The so called ‘Imrerialistic ambitions’ are nothing but a wish to live normal lives like people in any other nation without limits imposed by foreign powers.
The Iraqi style democracy failed them in it.
Putin closed that door. In my area I know several Russians...now Americans...and they either hate Putin or strongly dislike.
And after the fall of the S.V. the US government thought merely democracy was the answers, when they will not work when the Mafia and former KGB remains in power, and without a strong evangelical Christianity.
