Will someone please post the thread that mentions what impact an armed society possess? It was a thread with thousands of replies. Can’t find it. Certainly applicable to today’s events in Venezuela.
I don't know where it is but I'm sure someone does.
I think the theme of it is asymmetrical opposition, as in the Apparatchiks of the state would still be seen being driven to work, etc.
Of course that would work both ways. Leaders of a militant opposition could/would get a phone call: "We've got your wife. Here, hang on a second, we'll let you talk to her..."
So it gets very ugly very fast, but one might think it would still be preferable to Venezuela because there would at least be a chance...
