Full title: Future of controversial US military base Diego Garcia hangs in the balance after UN rules the Indian Ocean archipelago was illegally seized in the 1960s by Britain and should give be given back to Mauritius

The future of a US military base constructed on a British territory in Mauritius has been thrown into doubt after a United Nations ruling on Monday. The UN's high court has ordered the United Kingdom to give the Chagos Islands back to Mauritius after an investigation revealed they'd been seized under illegal pretenses during the 1960s and 70s. This could, however, also cause a huge issue for the US too, as the territory's largest atoll, Diego Garcia, has been home to a sizable US military base for the past five decades. The Chagos base was constructed after the UK ousted more than 2,000 island natives from their homes and leased the grounds ...

"The UK's ongoing administration is a 'wrongful act', according to an advisory opinion given by the court, which is not binding."

Not even the 9th Circuit would try to enforce a non binding opinion.

Furthermore, it is not a “united” nations in any respect.

More 'terms' that are not what they say in any respect:

Planned Parenthood
Ethics Committee
Equal Rights
Pro Choice
Reproductive Rights
Free Speech

Condemn the UN building as unsafe for human habitation, which is almost true. It’s about at the point where it would be cheaper to tear it down and rebuild it than to fix it.

Chagos was not an idyllic Polynesian atoll, settled in antiquity.

It was uninhabited, before several investors started coconut plantations and imported laborers to work them.

The inhabitants lived in housing provided by the plantation owners, ate food imported by the plantation owners, drank water collected by facilities built by the plantation owners.

And the plantations had been sold, the company stores closed. There was not and had not been a subsistence economy, and anyone who would have remained on the islands would have starved. Remember, these weren’t Polynesian with a culture and tradition of feeding themselves from the sea, they were Africans who’d been working the fields in the coconut plantations that no longer existed.

The islanders had no claim to real property. No title to land that they’d actually owned.

And as for Mauritius, there was no Mauritius at the time. Their claim is based in the idea that both Mauritius and Chagos had both one been part of the same colonial administrative territory. Which is exactly the same claim that Iraq had over Kuwait.

can we ship the UN to the Mauritius?

No. But there is plenty of room in the 57 muslim countries with the added benefit that most of the delegates would have a far shorter commute ...
