OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) Authorities arrested a man suspected of shooting the security guard of a news crew that was robbed while covering the Oakland teachers strike, according to a statement by the CBS affiliate.
KPIX said a reporter and a photographer were gathering interviews Sunday about the strike at the Oakland Library when a car pulled up and the driver pulled a gun, demanding their camera. The crew surrendered the equipment and began walking away.
The suspect then shot the guard, Matt Meredith, in the leg, the news station said. KPIX reporter Joe Vazquez said on Twitter that the guard, a retired Berkeley police officer, exchanged gunfire.
An Alameda County Sheriff spokesman says a 21-year-old man with several gunshot wounds walked into a nearby hospital after the incident. Oakland police arrested the man on suspicion of shooting the news crews guard.

Hate to say but I’m enjoying the schadenfreude of the media getting robbed and shot by one of the ‘special’ people they’re always trying to pretend are good citizens.
Then more good news.
The bad guy was then shot several times by an apparently legal gun carrier.
Violence at a labor demonstration. Yawn.
They get any video of this?
Perp stole their gear.
Mugging news crews seems to be the latest thing.
Get some nice pawnable cameras that way.
Never been a felon, never shot my guns at anyone.
Shot some coyotes and deer though...
Am I a legal gun carrier?
Does the 2A...give the right for me to carry....Or, do I need to be "legal"?
I believe in the 2nd amendment, however being a realist living in California, I’m not totally crazy.
Moved in 97...
Still have friends and some family there.
Friends have guns....and some of them aren't registered...with any CA authority.
I'm very confident if they are threatened..they will take appropriate action.
Screw the State....
