House Democrats Plan Vote to Criminalize Private Gun Sales

House Democrats plan a floor vote to criminalize private gun sales and add an indefinite extension to the time to complete a NICS instant background check.

The criminalization of private gun sales is being achieved via H.R. 8, a universal background check bill that will make it a crime for a friend to sell a gun to a lifelong friend without government permission. The bill will also make it a crime for a neighbor to sell a gun to a neighbor he has known for decades, unless government permission is sought.

The House Democrats named their universal background check bill H.R. 8 to honor Gabby Giffords for her eight years of survival since being shot during a constituent meet-and-greet in Tucson. Ironically, the bill they are pushing in her honor would not have prevented the attack she suffered because the gunman who came after her acquired his gun via a background check.

Nevada, check. Unless a lawsuit can prevail over the recent SB 143 which supposedly fixes the anti's screw up on the Question 3 initiative from a couple years ago. Supposedly, and as I recall reading, a law passed can not be amended for 3 years after passage so there is typical demolib trickery at play here. We'll have to see if the pro gun folks can come up with enough money to mount a challenge.

Every FReeper should schedule a visit to their congressman’s office. As soon as possible.

Obviously this is aimed at honest, non-violent citizens. The purpose is to take guns from non-violent people while intentionally leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.

So the criminals can waltz right in and take what is “rightfully” theirs from their “oppressors.”

“Oppress this!” (poster shapes hand and fingers into rude gesture.)

It’s unconstitutional. There is no need to obey it.

Part of this, maybe the primary reason is ultimate Registration of guns, even guns previously transferred without paperwork. All of it is patently unConstitutiona. I can’t imagine we will ever have a Court that follows the Constitution to the letter.

Actually this bill is aimed at one thing...de-facto registration.

There are millions of weapons out there that have never gone through Form 4473 transfer(s) and that is what they are looking to do.

Today’s extreme left wing communist-nazi-islamicist D party is very very dangerous to America and our future. Very dangerous

This will go to SCOTUS if passed.

This is the Holy Grail for the gun controllers: once every single transaction has to go through background checks, they can continue ratcheting up the numbers of disqualifiers: they went from being a felon to being convicted of a misdemeanor that could be a felony today. They added on any intimation of being a domestically violent (which only required an allegation by a resentful ex-spouse).

Next, they'll make it include and misdemeanor at all, the traffic tickets, accusations by lefty neighbors, etc., etc.

Of course, if you are rejected by the background check system, you don't have any right at all to know what the accusation is against you, no ability to correct the record and no right to possess the firearms you already have.

They are closing the net and tightening it while we watch it happen.

Maybe they could name it the Anastasia bill in honor of the first well known family to be slaughtered by Leftist gangsters like themselves.

We all know they won’t have any problem handing out guns to all of their buddies on the patronage payroll. After which it will be Cambodia under Pol Pot version 2.0.

The US House may pass it, but it goes nowhere after that, The US Senate won’t pass it, and POTUS Trump will veto it. If we lose the US Senate and.or the WH in 2020, it’ll become law, And then the *SHTF* begins.

Backdoor registration is what this about.

Do not comply.
It is impossible to enforce.

Absolutely. It worked like a charm in post-Weimar Germany. Civilian gun ownership had been prohibited there, but Hitler and the boys rolled that back to "You can own guns (for now), just register them..."

Have to wonder if it might not be beneficial to have a Scotus decision now to discourage future attempts...

I am of the opinion that the best way to combat this long term is to push out to the general public, the information necessary to construct a small scale gun workshop where individuals can create / manufacture their own firearms.

Does this ban the private “sale’ or “transfer” of firearms without a background check? Because if it bans the “transfer” then you can’t even let a friend shoot your gun at the range.

Yup, ALL gun sales will comply and there will never be gun violence ever again. At least that was the sales pitch for the petition here in NV. Passed statewide by about 10,000 votes. Mostly from Vegas/Clark county. So once again the population center controls the entire state.

As long as 80% lowers are still legal to purchase with no check, one doesn’t need much of a workshop.
