I've spent many hours at the Rock Creek cemetery - my father belonged to the church there when he first came to DC from Virginia as a kid and had a paper route delivering to the Soldier's Home. One of his favorite sculptures, which he taught me about and which became one of my favorites, too:

Love that beautiful statue, “Grief.”
They tore down the Soldier’s Home that was on New Hampshire Avenue almost at the DC line, Eastern Avenue. Now it’s a yuppie townhouse development.

Our church has a section at RCC, with my family plot, so I’ve been there often. The American Institute of Architects has a wonderful book on Washington DC sculpture with a good section on RCC and it’s memorials and mauseleums.
