SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Sen. Susan Collins said Wednesday that she would vote for a congressional resolution disapproving of President Donald Trump’s emergency declaration to build a wall on the southern border, becoming the first Republican senator to publicly express support for such a measure.
The lawmaker from Maine said she would vote for a resolution as long as it focused only on the declaration.
The president’s action “completely undermines” the role of Congress and is of “dubious constitutionality,” she said, while attending a Coast Guard ceremony.
“If it’s a ‘clean’ disapproval resolution, I will support it,” she said.
Trump declared an emergency last week to obtain funding for the wall beyond the $1.4 billion Congress approved for border security. Trump’s use of the emergency declaration has drawn bipartisan criticism, and 16 states have filed a lawsuit against the declaration.

Never forget...they threw away a US Senate seat in Alabama rather than defend a true conservative.
Did she do the same with Obama executive orders?
What about congressional spending outside of Art 1 Section 8? Gun control, health care?
Because all this newfound respect for the Constitution is getting me all excited.
Well, this is just shocking. I expected to hear from romney, bubbleboy and gardner by now. They can’t even lead the opposition, they have to wait for a woman to do it.

Congressional members have abandon their duty to this Republic years ago in favor of being perpetually being reelected.
The GOP knows that it can always count on Collins not to be counted on.
Apparently, she thinks we have a Parliamentary system and that President Trump has power like a British queen
Funny how she didn’t oppose any of Obama’s Emergency Declarations.
Guess it depends on who’s spending the money for her.
She ain’t one of ours.
Congress told the president to build the wall (in 2006?). Then they didn’t give any president (bush, obama, trump) money to do it.
They should vote that they were wrong in 2006 and we don’t need a wall if that’s how they feel. But don’t vote that they “disapprove” of how the current president is building the wall that congress approved of just because they haven’t explicitly given the funds to build the wall they approved.
Hey Susan you are a wimp.This resolution does nothing . If you really don’t like IT GO FOR A JOINT RESOLUTION OF CONGRESS if you can get 2/3 vote in both houses you can succeed!Otherwise you are just a headline seeking anti Trumper and may somebody primary you in next election!
