More than 200 million in path of major winter storm sweeping northward across the US
Accuweather ^ | 2-19-19 | Faith Eherts

A major storm will bring snow, rain, ice or a wintry mix to more than 200 million Americans beginning Tuesday and continuing through Wednesday night, impacting roughly 60 percent of the U.S. population.

Parts of 39 of the 48 contiguous United States will be impacted by the massive storm, including every state east of the Mississippi River. The storm will have such a large impact on so many because it will reach parts of 26 of the 30 most populous states.

As the large storm rolls up the Tennessee and Ohio valleys at midweek, it will bring snow, ice and difficult travel to the Midwest and Northeast. The storm will then reorganize along the mid-Atlantic coast before heading toward the Maritime provinces of Canada.

The hell with bread and milk. Get beer, lots of beer. You can get a pizza on a snowmobile and bring it home. Here in the Rockies we plan ahead. The snowmobile is emergency gear. s/

Hmmm... My Accuweather tells me Florida, which is East of the Mississippi, won't get any rain until Sunday. And even then, it's only a 20% chance.

So, (Inaccurate)Weather, if this storm is moving north, how exactly will I be impacted?

This is why I prefer the west. It's a hands down, no brainer for me. The southwest to be more specific!☺

They’re calling this storm Mr Sidney Fields in honor of Abbot & Costello.

Is it unusual for major winter storms to move from the south to the north? Is this a Mexican vortex? Montezuma’s new revenge?

It’s snowing at the Dynachrome mansion as I type. It snowed yesterday, too, and was 8 degrees in the morning. The cat froze.

We’ve got flood warnings near Nashville. With the next two days expected to dump heavy.

But I don’t see freezing temperatures in the forecast.

Then again, you know how those weather forecasters lie.

When I was young we had BRUTAL winters in the Midwest what we didn’t have was WALL to WALL media coverage telling everyone how AWFUL it was!! We all survived without their screeching and never ending advice on what to do because the world was ending!!! We didn’t even know the storms were coming AND we were just fine!!!

What?! A snowstorm in February!?

They have the same template every winter and every summer. Winter snow storms. Blazing summer heat. EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

LOL.

So then, any weather , any rain, any snow, any wind, is due to climate change. We can’t win because no matter what happens, they will blame global warming.

I just checked the forecast. Looks like 1-3 inches of snow, changing to rain by morning. Clearing during the day, high of 50.

It seems like most of the storm area will receive less than six inches of snow, and large areas will receive none. Doesn’t sound like a big deal.

IIRC the blizzard of 78 had about 12 hours advance notice in Ohio. Now the meteos are wetting the bed a week ahead of time.
