An American destroyer is sailing to the Black Sea to conduct naval exercises with Ukraine to demonstrate solidarity in response to a clash with Russia that has a top U.S. admiral furious.
The whole episode in the Sea of Azov was extremely bothersome to me, Admiral James Foggo, commander of U.S. naval forces in Europe and Africa, told reporters on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference over the weekend.
Russian forces fired on three Ukrainian naval vessels that attempted to pass through the Kerch Strait, the narrow waterway that connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Azov, and arrested the sailors in late November. The maritime incident was the first public act of violence by Russian forces against Ukraine since 2014, when unmarked Russian fighters helped annex Crimea and invade eastern Ukraine. Since the takeover, Moscow has used control of the land on both sides of the waterway to restrict access to key Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov.

Well...
Actually it’s a routine cruise, it went there a year ago.
Does show support though.
It appears the Admiral is out of sorts!
To those not in the know, the Russians illegally seized territory in Ukraine and then built a bridge connecting their territory to the newly seized territory. This left all the Ukrainian ports trapped inside the now blocked up Sea of Azov with the only way out to pass under that Russian Bridge. And the Russians are making it ... let’s just say hard for them to do so. Again, illegally and in international and/or recognized Ukrainian waters Russia is turning back Ukrainian ships and firing on some.
Passage through the Hellespont is controlled by the Montreux Convention...

And the Ukranians tried to throw the 2016 election to Hillary. It’s not our business - we should stay out of it.
This doesn’t sound like anything we should put our naval men and women in danger for. We should also stay out of domestic disputes. It’s not our fight.

Why on earth would we support these guys? It’s the equivalent of supporting ISIS in Syria.
Let the Ukrainians fight the Russians; NOT an American problem.
I just hope that Ensign “Peewee” Cobb is not flying air cover on this deployment.
“Why on earth would we support these guys? Its the equivalent of supporting ISIS in Syria.”
We don’t support the Russians or ISIS now. President Trump supports international law and is helping back it up there. He’s also provided lethal aid to the second largest country in Europe can protect itself against the Putin Bear.
Keeping Hillary’s pet coup government in Ukraine propped up is not worth a dime. I do not give a damn if Russian troops are feasting on human flesh in Kiev - it’s none of our business.
“Keeping Hillarys pet coup government in Ukraine propped up is not worth a dime.”
What coup? The former Russian-allied president fled in the dead of night after months of peaceful protests in the capital.
“I do not give a damn if Russian troops are feasting on human flesh in Kiev - its none of our business.”
No one asked you to give anything about anything including international law.
Cool...we will send YOUR kids first...
“Cool...we will send YOUR kids first...”
No, you can send me if President Trump makes the call. Peace through Strength.
> after months of peaceful protests in the capital.
Yeah except for the riots and snipers. You must be the only one who doesn’t know.
“No one asked you to give anything about anything including international law.
We are not the world’s policemen. There is no such thing as international law.
Putin’s Russia is supporting our enemies in the world including the Taliban in Afghanistan leading to US combat deaths.
Then bring our troops home. They have no business in Afghanistan.
