McCabe: No one in 'Gang of Eight' objected to FBI probe into Trump
The Hill ^ | February 19, 2019 | Brett Samuels

Former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe said Tuesday that none of the top eight congressional leaders objected when he briefed them in 2017 on the bureau's decision to open a counterintelligence investigation into President Trump.

"The purpose of the briefing was to let our congressional leadership know exactly what we’d been doing," McCabe, who was the acting FBI director at the time, said during an interview on NBC's "Today" show.

McCabe acknowledged that he ordered the investigation, but pushed back against suggestions that he'd acted alone in doing so. He said that he consulted with his team, reviewed it with bureau lawyers and discussed it with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein before moving forward.

"And I told Congress what we had done," he said.

"No one objected," he added in the interview. "Not on legal grounds, not on constitutional grounds and not based on the facts."

The New York Times first reported last month that the FBI launched an inquiry into whether Trump was working for Russia after the president fired former bureau chief James Comey. McCabe took over as acting director after Comey's ouster.

The "Gang of Eight" consists of the top two leaders from each party in each chamber of Congress. Representatives around the time of the 2017 meeting would have included Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), then-Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and then-House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

Graham is turned to supporting Trump.

Not really. Graham is providing some theatrical red meat for the GOP base. Anytime Hannity steers a conversation to any criminal penalties for Democrats Grahnesty runs as fast as he can from the question. It’s all beltway kabuki we’ve seen a thousand times.

The only one on the gang of eight(intelligence) that didn’t vote for Hillary or didn’t support the Mueller coup would be Devin Nunes

Dirtbag Ryan (Progressive-WI) should have never forced Nunes to recuse. He clearly did it to assist the Mueller Coup since Nunes was the one Congressman actually doing his sworn duties.

He would probably have assured the Gang of 8 that the president had been, and would continue to be, appropriately briefed, and his cover story on this would have been tied to whatever Comey told the president. I.e., there is a high probability that McCabe sold the fraud to the Gang of 8, which would be culpable for not anticipating a conspiracy of this magnitude and therefore not pushing back. But that’s not the same thing as being an active participant.

Wink, wink. As if Ryan and McConnell didn’t know Mueller had hired 16 angry Democrats including Hillary’s lawyer and attendees at her sore loser party.

I would say right now that McConnell and Nunes have the most explaining to do to Trump...by far.

Nunes stepped aside from anything related to the Russian investigation in April of 2017 and didn't come back until the fall.

The IC Gang of Eight were in on it. As were the FISA judges. As was the supervisor of the FISA judges, John Roberts.

I've been following the FISA abuse story. The dirty dossier was injected at the 7th floor of the FBI and bypassed most if not all DOJ procedures. People on the lower floors that normally would review the FISA request and sign off, didn't review it because it was "pre-approved". They just signed it. On the last renewal Rod Rosenstein admitted he didn't read it because the lower ranks are suppose to make sure it is accurate and his signing was just a formality. Just normal government FUBAR and SNAFU.

He has changed tone since McCain died. He and McCain were clearly on the wrong side for the Obama years.

I think both took Saudi Money. And Soros Money. That is an odd combination of donors. headshake.

The son of a bit@hes at the FBI are targeting the Commander in chief because they disagreed with a policy decision. And the FBI has zero authority to target the president. That power is solely found in the Congress. They can investigate him all day long and impeach him if they want. But they may NOT direct the DOJ or FBI to do anything.

The FBI is an un-American treasonous organization and must be disbanded. There is a long term pattern of extra constitutional activity and illegal activities that they “deem” necessary.

A counter-intelligence investigation aimed at the President due to the FBI/CIA disagreeing with his policy direction and firing of an FBI director spying on him is a coup.
And that counter-intelligence investigation used a document the FBI knew was fake because in concert with the coup leaders the FBI knew;
1) Bernie bot Seth Rich stole the DNC emails out of disgust at the rigger DNC primary.
2) He provided them to Wikileaks..Assange basically admitted it on TV.
3) That Fusion invented the Russian pee-pee dossier at the behest of the FBI and Hillary campaign and that they used this fake document to start FISA surveillance on him before the election. In effect doing oppo research for Hillary.

The FBI is completely corrupt and tried to launch a coup.

So there’s a transcript of this meeting with the heads of Congress?

By statute conversations with the Gang of 8 are classified. Per Greg Jarrett, whether what he's saying is true or not, making public statements like this to the press about a classified conversation could be a crime.
