Schumer, Deblasio, Todd, Bloomberg, all the New York rats are mad at that chick with the big teeth. They blame her for Amazon pulling out. The truth of the matter is OCasio Cortez was right. This was a big taxpayer waste of money. But it is ironically delicious when rats turn on other rats.

What “taxpayer money”? There was none, and the state and city agreed to forego some in exchange for development and lucrative jobs (on which both the city and state would reap income taxes).

I understand opposing it because it was basically expelling people from their neighborhoods, and it didn’t appear many of the residents would be qualified for those lucrative jobs; I don’t understand opposing it because the future revenues were too valuable. Many FReepers point out the real minimum wage is $0 - and that is what NY will get from this deal now.

The truth of the matter is OCasio Cortez was right.

Now who's flaunting their ignorance? I recommend "Understanding Tax Incentives for Dummies." You can order it from Amazon....the company that would have generated $25B in tax revenue for New York over ten years.

There was NO MONEY to waste you numbnutz. You are as dumb as kotex.

This was a 10% tax reduction, based on $30 Billion in taxes over ten years.

It would have generated $27 Billion in taxes and now it generates ZERO over ZERO years.

Are you a demonRAT or did you drink too much alcohol and addled your brain.

“The truth of the matter is OCasio Cortez was right.”

She was right for the wrong reasons. She thought that she was saving $3B in other people’s money so that she could blow it on other things. She didn’t understand that the $3B were tax breaks Amazon wouldn’t have to pay over time and that Amazon would still be paying a lot in taxes. Overall, she looked like an ass, but she always looks like an ass with those teeth.

I do agree (I think) with your underlying argument that seems to be that taxes should be a one size fits all ‘scheme’ and that nobody should be favored. “Deals” like this open the doors to all sorts of corruption. Keeping your taxes for your area low (assuming you have the requisite infrastructure in place) will always attract business. Always.

Would you give a 3 billion credit to get 27 billion not counting the periphiel increased tax revenues that feed off providing services, etc. to Amazon employees and various local vendors for decades to come?

“The truth of the matter is OCasio Cortez was right. This was a big taxpayer waste of money.”

How can you say this? It’s like saying a grocery store is wasting money by putting an item on sale. IOW, charging less for a product than usual. AKA a tax incentive. You know why that’s done? To bring in customers that normally would not patronize them. It’s a ‘less money or no money’ situation.

Nothing was “wasted” because nothing was spent.

Now NYC will get 100% taxation of NOTHING because Amazon isn’t moving there. Yeah, that’s a ‘great savings of taxpayer money’ vs. receiving 70% of $10 billion in taxes.
