Reality (like jobs in Long Island City, NY) is inconvenient, collateral damage if it conflicts with the Left's ideas (i.e., agenda).
It is better that everyone be poor than have a society in which some folks are richer than others but everyone is doing well.
The Left in America has adopted the principles so clearly explained by Booker T Washington when he said the following:
“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”The same now applies to a class of people in America (of any color or race). The Left would rather make a business of the troubles, wrongs, and hardships of Americans rather than help them move ahead.
But not because they actually care.
