Youre right, I dont call him a fascist. Hes certainly anti-democratic, and I say so in the book, but I dont call him a fascist because he isnt violent. If he ends up declaring an emergency at the border over immigration, then I might change my position. Theres a long history of fascists using emergencies to create fear and conflict, so thats a potential red line. If Trump does that, then he really is a bully with an army.
But I do think his approach to the free press, to democratic institutions, to the independent judiciary, is extremely dangerous and anti-democratic. And his general disdain for the rule of law is genuinely alarming. Sean Illing
I have to push back here, because I think youre wrong on the point about violence. In addition to denouncing the free press, in addition to threatening to jail political opponents, in addition to undermining rule of law, Trump has actually incited political violence at his rallies, and hes created an atmosphere in which violence is far more likely.
It seems to me hes checked nearly all the fascist boxes.

Press briefings should be conducted with identifying the political activists by their political party support. Each activist should be graded by their so called reporting. If they present objective reporting they could be identified as a journalist. If they work for CNN or MSDNC etc they should be called on as political activist so people watching can be informed.
She is not known as Madeleine Halfbrite for nothing.
The only thing I have to say about her is that she is even stupider than she is ugly.

“Hes certainly anti-democratic”

Oh, I thought she was talking about our male Supreme Court justices who stripped the authority to define marriage out of the hands of the states. That’s a pretty anti-democratic move.
What free press!

Funny coming from a commie.
Here’s to your new nuclear reactor Bill says send more teenage girls.
Everyone and his brother can start up his own web site, and express his/her opinions til the cows come home. Jim Robinson has done that, with this site. He expresses his opinion by what he allows on the site - not that he would necessarily agree with every syllable that is posted here - as well as by his own postings. This is what a free press looks like.OTOH Big Media - the wire services and their members/subscribers - conspire against the public, as Adam Smith predicted in Wealth of Nations in 1776:
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. The wire services are continual virtual meetings of the MSM, and the AP in particular dates back to before the Civil War. It therefore requires extreme naiveté to take for granted that the members of the MSM do not conspire against the public. What is the MSM uniquely situated to do to the public? Self-serving propaganda. Propagandistic techniques trace back to ancient Greece:
Because of the direct connection it would make to the Sophists, and the bad odor of sophistry, journalists do not claim superior wisdom. Not exactly. But they do claim superior objectivity, and the difference between that and wisdom can be hard to put your finger on. I put it to you that journalists in good standing with the MSM use claims of objectivity conspiratorially - they vociferously condemn anyone who questions the objectivity some journalist in good standing. They will solemnly intone that the challenger is not a journalist, not objective.
- sophist
- 1542, earlier sophister (c.1380), from L. sophista, sophistes, from Gk. sophistes, from sophizesthai "to become wise or learned," from sophos "wise, clever," of unknown origin. Gk. sophistes came to mean "one who gives intellectual instruction for pay," and, contrasted with "philosopher," it became a term of contempt. Ancient sophists were famous for their clever, specious arguments.
- philosopher
- O.E. philosophe, from L. philosophus, from Gk. philosophos "philosopher," lit. "lover of wisdom," from philos "loving" + sophos "wise, a sage."
"Pythagoras was the first who called himself philosophos, instead of sophos, 'wise man,' since this latter term was suggestive of immodesty." [Klein]
Well, guess what! Objectivity is an aspiration, not a state of being. And - for commercial reasons with no philosophical justification - all commercial journalism is basically about bad news. The claim that "journalism is objective is, therefore, tantamount to the claim that negativity is objectivity. And the claim that 'negativity is objectivity is a very serviceable definition of cynicism.
Thus there is reason to believe that journalism which claims objectivity is cynical. But no one is cynical about everything. In fact, cynicism towards A corresponds to naiveté towards the opposite of A. Journalism is cynical about society, and concomitantly, naive towards what exists to discipline society - namely, government. This explains why conservatives might find themselves critiquing the MSM as strongly tending to the promotion of socialism.
American conservatives are skeptical about government, and solicitous of society (sometimes called, the market). But they are also skeptical enough about society to recognize that government is necessary as well as dangerous. Socialists are naive about government.
My old nickname for her was “Meddlesome All-blight”.
The Atlantic is another one. These sites seem to pop out of nowhere solely to create discord and if you’ll notice, these sites don’t allow people to comment to provide an alternate point of view such as this crap they just put up by Andrew McCabe. He spews all this garbage and nobody is allowed to debate it, no comments, all hit and run........
