No doubt. 40-50 retiring house Republicans settled the issue before it began. They assumed they'd lose committee chairmanships as minority members, so they quit instead. That many new faces is impossible to defend. As you know, most incumbents are re-elected...upwards of 90 %f. Even in an anti-Trump year we would have held.
On the brighter side, those departees were mostly RINOs. Good riddance.
And for those Rs that remain, most thought Trump would be gone in a matter of months, so they withheld their support.
