Ever wonder why people hate lawyers? Consider Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosensteins non-denial denial of his participation in discussions of an attempted coup against the duly elected president of the United States.
The story is being given a second life thanks to the hype surrounding the rollout of a new book by Andrew McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI.
McCabe, of course, was fired after an inspector general investigation found that he leaked investigative information and then lied about it. He has been referred to the Justice Department for consideration of a false-statements prosecution.
There is no doubt that, when he was acting FBI director after President Trumps May 2017 firing of Director James Comey, McCabe huddled with Rosenstein to mull over options for removing the president from office.
But we have known this for six months ever since The New York Times published its bombshell report. Indeed, at the time, I wrote a column about it for National Review titled Rod Rosensteins Resistance weasel words, weasel moves from an emotionally overwrought deputy AG eager to ingratiate himself with Democrats.
There are really no new revelations in this weeks breathless reporting. The story is a retread, trotted out again because CBS is hoping to generate ratings for its 60 Minutes interview of McCabe on Sunday night, the launch of the McCabe book tour.
There has been a good deal of commentary this week about whether McCabe and Rosenstein were seriously brainstorming about a coup attempt; or whether, instead, discussions about invoking the 25th Amendment and possibly wiring up against the president (i.e., covertly recording him) were just graveyard humor. The truth is somewhere in the middle: The conversation was no joke, but the idea was lunacy.

It is intimidation for the DAJ and a Deputy Director of the FBI to even approach the Cabinet on this topic. It is mob tactics - how do you say no to a corrupt FBI and DOJ hell bent on destroying the POTUS and you standing in their way? It means they will take you out, too.
That makes this imo conspiracy to Sedition, or as Mueller has framed it in other cases “conspiracy against the United States”. They didn’t go through with it, but they conspired to do it and - theoretically according to this story - had 2 on board. You or I can talk about it all day long, but for the FBI and DOJ to scheme and count noses and possibly even solicit support from the Cabinet is too much. The 25th is the prerogative of the VPOTUS and Cabinet alone and interference from the DOJ and FBI is intimidation, obstruction and conspiracy.
^DAG not DAJ
After the Mueller Report on Non-Report is dealt with, internally or released to the public, then the “Night of the Long Knives” will begin for the Mueller Would Be Massacre participants.
One way that Trump and even AG Barr (a big question mark over his willingness to bring to justice these coup plotters and their accomplices, even in the media) could strike back is to permanently remove any security clearance any of their targets have and ban them from government service for life.
I don’t know if every one of Mueller’s henchmen/women are guilty of professional misconduct or even treason, but those that can be proven to have done committed these acts must be punished, and hard.
Rosenstein should be fired ASAP and banned from govt. Also, all his govt equipment should be seized as well as documents and equipment at his home, private or not, for presentation to a criminal grand jury. He’s said enough to implicate himself in criminal activity. Let a GJ decide on his fate.
The same for McCabe, possibly Baker, Yates, and even Mueller.
If not, the Sen. Judiciary Committee should start a year-long series of hearings calling each of these POS in (by subpoena if necessary), put them under oath, and let the 5ths fall like rain.
At a congressional committee, its chairman/counsel can present information/documentation that show what these people have done, even if it falls short of a criminally indictable act. (I did that against No. Vietnamese US “friends” before a congressional committee. Some shit hit the fan and will again in April in another forum).
Since a lot of this coup conspiracy falls around the Comey “Hillary” statements, the Committee can bring in the whole Clinton Criminal Conspiracy gang and their bankbooks, Russian contacts still in the US (subpoena those back in the Motherland just for shits and grins), and anyone else still alive from the Australian diplomat, Christopher Steele, Greenberg, Mifsud, etc.
let the games begin. The lions haven’t been fed and are real hungry. I’ll bring popcorn for the observing masses.
So is McCabe. But I don’t doubt that Rosenstein was serious in repeatedly floating his offer to wire up for meeting with Trump.
Why didnt Sessions
We respected him
Same reason no wall or repeal of OC
Sessions and Kelly. Sessions has now disappeared from the face of the earth.
What we need now is ACTION! STOP THE TALK! WE WANT THOSE RESPONSOBLE INDICTED!
WILLIAM BARR.....WILLIAM BARR......YOU BETTER HAVE THEM ALL ARRESTED!!! or if you don’t, you care more about your friendship with Mueller than you care about the country.... Et Tu SWAMP DWELLER??
Judge Roberts is just a swamp dwelling creep being blackmailed by the Democrats.
He may lose his law licence for a while,as did BillyBob. But I'd bet the clothes on my back that nothing worse will happen...to *any* of them.
Why do I believe this? Several reasons...the first being DC juries.Even if charges are brought...which is unlikely...there's no way a DC jury would vote "guilty" on a single charge.
Openly plotting a coup - overturning a free and fair election because they didnt like the winner - should earn these evil globalists the death penalty or at least life without parole.

Cannot for the life of me figure out why Andrew McCarthy is still associated with National Review.
When the president wins in 2020, scores will be settled - make book on it. JMHO
Yep, I was just saying that the other day.
Spicer and Priebus.
McCarthy is a putz never Trumper, way late to the game, now trying to cover his exposed backside. I can’t stand the guy,can you tell?
I doubt Spicer
Spicer and Priebus.
I have this on good authority.
Spicer is working a Trump 2020 campaign PAC and has published a book.
Those who left (majority) did not have a choice. ALL remained pro MAGA and loyal to POTUS? Why are we attacked by pro MAGA? The establishment runs deep. Logical thinking.
