Climate change is NOT a national emergency.

Furthermore, where is rock solid proof of the climate change “disaster?” You know, scientific proof of man-made climate change that does not rely on computer models or use weasel words like “might”, “may”, “could”, etc.

The 'scary' powers of the President of the United States have always been there. That's why the Constitution gave Congress the power of impeachment. Too bad the repukis allowed and funded O'muslim's fundamental transformation of America.

“They will do it anyway.”

Exactly. The Dems threaten, but unlike the GOP, they mean it. And sooner or later, they’ll be given the chance, and they’ll do it.

This grand experiment is drawing to a close.

...are powers that future Democratic presidents are certainly going to seize using this as a precedent

Get lost, Stephens. When presidents like Obama declare Burundi as a national emergency, those "powers" have already been seized.

Besides, where are the documented catastrophies from your fraudulent warming? There are none. There are plenty of documented casualties from an open border.

Anyone who doesn’t think dems would do stuff like this regardless of what Trump does hasn’t been paying attention.

Bret Stephens is an 'effing idiot.

Declaring a "national emergency" on climate change is basically what Barry Obama did when he committed the U.S. to the terms of the Paris Climate Accord without Senate ratification.

This is a “manufactured crisis” if there ever was one.

Yes. It is a simple deduction. A vote for a Democrat presidential candidate in 2020 is a vote for communist totalitarianism.

Not to mention, Obama already abused the executive order power. No one screamed wait until a future Republican does it.

We'll face that danger from America's enemies on the left when the time comes. If President Trump doesn't seal the border, there won't be a free and prosperous country left for socialists to betray when the globalist thugs do retake power.

I hope and pray that Trump will build the entire wall by the end of the year. At the very least, he should finish the Wall for Texas and go as far as he can to work around the Obama judges who will try to stop him in California, Arizona, or New Mexico.

Perhaps he could close the border crossings with Mexico and tell them he will reopen the crossings contingent on Mexico building the Wall expeditiously (and keep the border crossings open only if construction starts promptly and continues rapidly). Alternatively, he could send enough military to seal the border, crossing into Mexico (yes, I know that's a big deal) so the illegals cannot whine that they are already on US soil and entitled to demand asylum and to be supported by welfare payments for the decade of processing time on their frivolous claims.

Get back to us when “climate change” falls under the purview of the military and/or law enforcement.

We’ll stop them when the time comes. For now, we are doing what is necessary.

Bret Stephens is an 'effing idiot.

IMO, the problem with Bret and other "journalists" is that they have not experienced life beyond the NYC/Wall Street/Beltway corridor. It skews their perceptions and heightens their sense of self importance to an alarming degree.

In my life, I've experienced the wrath of liberals, and at a very young age. These liberals are now in the halls of power at the highest level, the same people who castigated and ostracized me during my last two months of HS. My crime was to accept an Army ROTC scholarship (HS is 15 miles south of Berkeley). I even encountered teachers who told me to my face how "disappointed" they were with me. lol

BTW, that same high school graduated Rachel Maddow...lol.

It helped turn me into the PITA I am today.

And yes, Bret Stephens is an effing idiot. lol

Stay well, my FRiend.

“The powers that Trump appropriates for himself now and that Republicans like Mitch McConnell willingly grant him are powers that future Democratic presidents are certainly going to seize using this as a precedent”

Hey, Bret, were you asleep between 1/20/09 and 1/20/17? Obama did whatever TF he wanted to with E.O.s, and no one stopped him. THEY’RE GOING TO DO IT ANYWAY!! So what is the point of playing by the Marqui de Queensbury rules when the Leftist scum refuse to do so? Our country is at risk of being destroyed from within by these people, and you think that the Dems will suddenly stop doing what they’ve been doing for 100 years if Trump plays nice?

GMAFB, you moron, you idiot, you putz!

“If Occasional Cortex is ever elected president she would probably declare a national emergency over the likely extinction of unicorns.”

Come on now, that’s a bit extreme...she’d surely on reserve such drastic action to protect the subspecies of unicorns that flies and simultaneously $hits Skittles when groups of smelly hippies sing, “Kumbaya.” Sheesh, give Ms. Donkey Teeth some credit for moderation.

I would remind these fools: “government by consent of the governed”. Their very words illustrate their desire to punish the American people. I will oppose them to their deaths.

Now that the President is free to use the Intelligence Services to Spy on his Political Opposition, why would there ever BE another Democrat President?
