Harrison Ford's Climate Horror Story
townhall.com ^ | 2/15/2019 | Brent Bozell and Tim Graham

In a recent video to promote a World Government Summit in Dubai, legendary "Star Wars" actor Harrison Ford offered the usual litany of doom. "What does living in a 4-degrees-warmer world look like? Freshwater shortages. Higher greenhouse gas emissions. Unprecedented fires. Worldwide destruction. Is this the world we want?"

Ford added: "Our planet, the only home we've got, is suffering. This is the bare truth. This is our reality. It's up to you and me to act now to face the greatest moral crisis of our time, to take action. It is time to make a difference."

Leftists can make this kind of unproven doom case forever, and it never loses its "moral authority." It doesn't matter that they've been selling the end of humanity since at least 1968 when Paul Ehrlich published his ludicrous manifesto "The Population Bomb." Did we all die over the last 50 years? Does anyone point and laugh at the elite media who eagerly pushed that "fake news"?

Excuse me...doesn’t Harrison Ford have a Plane, Car and Motorcycle collection?

Why yes. Yes he does.

When I saw Star Wars back in 1976. I think my mind just substituted some other word for “parsec”. I like what SciFi shows like Blake’s 7 do - they make up their own units of measure. For example in Blake’s 7 something called a “spatial” is a distance measure.

‘77 I think. I was 10, and didn’t know what a parsec was, yet.

The in-universe explanation is that making the trip in 12 parsecs (or whatever) was a feat of navigation to reduce the trip to that distance. No, I don’t buy it either. We all know that George Lucas (or one of his writers/advisers) heard the term “parsec” and thought it sounded “spacey” and used it, either ignorant of its real meaning, or not caring.

It’s sort of like Doc Brown and his “Jiggawatts” in Back to the Future. Someone knew that a gigawatt was a large amount, they just didn’t have anyone around who knew the correct pronunciation. And to be fair, in 1985 nobody much had yet encountered anything that came in quantities of a billion, like a gigabyte, or gigahertz. The biggest computers may have had hard drives or tape drives that crept into the gigabyte range, but nothing that regular personal computer users had access to. No computers were yet running in the GHz range - that would take at least another 10-15 years.

Correct, the distance of about 3.26 light years as a matter of fact.

Yep!

I guess back then my brain just substituted in something that made sense.

I am not a huge Star Wars fan. I guess I’ve seen the first maybe twice. I found it boring after the novelty of the first two wore off.

That’s pretty funny IJ. I didn’t say I believed any part of that STORY.
It was in the extended version of SOLO with Ron Howard (opie)
I was attempting to say this is how they’re trying to explain it. I’m fully aware that it’s not a reality based movie neither is 10000 leagues under the sea.
