Thanks for posting that info.
I can see how #1.Reason would be of great interest to Mr. Trump: An Independent Executive Branch.
Atty. Barr sort of popped up ‘out of nowhere’.

They had the opportunity to roll back so much of the leftist program the last two years and they freaking blew it over an arcane rule that anyone with 2 brain cells knew the left was going to eliminate anyway.

I think you're looking at this completely wrong.

The GOP didn't preserve the filibuster because they were nostalgic about the Senate and wanted to preserve this arcane rule.

The preserved the filibuster because it helped them hide a lot of political discord inside their own ranks. As long as they insisted on maintaining a 60-vote requirement for hotly-debated legislation (like the government shutdown debacle late last December), they never had to actually hold a vote and reveal that they didn't even have 50 votes to pass it in the first place.

“I hope my fears about the guy are misguided.”

I hope he turns Whitaker loose.

Swear him in and get him over to the DOJ immediately. I hope he makes Whittaker Deputy AG, the guy is great. He may have confirmation problems since he is so strong, but the guy needs to get a really good spot

“Or worse yet, I pray that he doesn’t become another “Sleepy” Jeff Sessions.”

Let’s hope he’s at least an upgrade over Sessions, which shouldn’t be hard to do.

Great; another 10 years of the Mueller investigation by William Barr’s pal, Robert Mueller. This is very depressing.

So, will the new AG work to enforce immigration law and implement the president’s immigration policies to the extent possible from the DOJ?

And will he appoint a special counsel to investigate past corruption in the FBI and DOJ?

Not optimistic about what this old Bush hand will do. Hope he proves my pessimism to be unjustified.
