Soon after speaking to President Trump about the firing of his boss James Comey, Andrew McCabe, who became the bureau's acting director, began obstruction of justice and counterintelligence investigations involving the president and his ties to Russia. In his first television interview since his own firing, McCabe tells 60 Minutes' Scott Pelley he wanted those inquiries to be documented and underway so they would be difficult to quash without raising scrutiny.
"I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground, in an indelible fashion," McCabe tells Pelley in the interview. "That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace."
The interview with the veteran FBI agent who rose to acting director of the bureau will be broadcast on 60 Minutes, Sunday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m., ET/PT on CBS.
"I wanted to make sure that our case was on solid ground and if somebody came in behind me and closed it and tried to walk away from it, they would not be able to do that without creating a record of why they made that decision," McCabe said.
The White House responded to the opening of that investigation, calling it a "completely baseless investigation."

The email reportedly provided assurances that Attorney General Lynch would protect Secretary Clinton by making sure the FBI investigation “didn’t go too far.”

COMEY: Again, to react to that, I have to give a classified answer and I can’t give it sitting here.
GRASSLEY: So that means you can give me the email?
COMEY: I’m not confirming there was an email, sir. I can’t — the subject is classified and in an appropriate forum I’d be happy to brief you on it. But I can’t do it in an open hearing.
GRASSLEY: I assume that the other members of the committee could have access to that briefing if they wanted?

This story is starting to break; Google “grassley comey lynch political cover” to find other sources.
The take away is that the Lynch document/memo hacked by Russia made Comey fear a leak would impugn the integrity of the FBI Clinton email probe.
So if the Russians had the document but did NOT leak it then it shows the Russians were favoring Hillary not Trump.
Put another way the Russians had a document that would have been very damaging to Hillary but the Russian not leak it. Much to the advantage of Hillary.

Is McCabe saying he officially started the probe AFTER Comey’s firing (a firing, once again folks, that was recommended by Rod Rosenstein and Jeff Sessions)?
Because there’s a ton of evidence, starting with Perkins-Coie, Hillary’s cutout, to pay Fusion GPS and specifically, Christopher Steele, to create the bogus Dossier on Donald Trump. This was used by McCabe and the FBI to get a FISA warrant on the Trump Campaign, BEFORE the Election—not when Comey was fired.

The Intercept reported Monday about a “top-secret” National Security Agency document. The document — dated May 5 — details hacking efforts by Russian military intelligence that includes a cyberattack against at least one U.S. voting software supplier.
The report indicates Russian military intelligence, specifically the Russian General Staff Main Intelligence Directorate, or GRU, also sent spear-phishing emails to more than 100 local election officials days before the November presidential election.
