The nonprofit National Butterfly Center has asked a federal judge to stop border wall activity on its property as the Trump administration gears up to build new walls and fencing in South Texas.
In a motion filed late Monday, center director Marianna Trevino Wright said heavy machinery has been driving through their property for a week, including a road grader accompanied by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) vehicle. Wright alleged that someone had cut the lock on a center fence and replaced it with a lock belonging to CBP.
CBP has announced it will start this month on the first of 33 miles of new walls and fencing in South Texas' Rio Grande Valley, the southernmost region of Texas. Congress funded construction last year.
The planned construction would eventually cut through the butterfly center, a state park, and a century-old chapel on the bank of the Rio Grande, the river that forms the Texas-Mexico border.
"We will not stand idly by as the bulldozers roll in," Wright said in a statement.

Here is the Roosevelt proclamation. It says the land can be only used for road construction and applied to California and the territories of AZ and NM.

And yet, it is a presidential proclamation and thus subject to a presidential modification by another president.
Just install a few miles of a high voltage bug zapper fence.
We’re gonna late term abort your butterflies, lady.
I’m sure you’ll find a way to get over it.
If there is one thing that grinds my gears it is the sight of a bunch of illegal, smirking butterflys.
They already have a locked fence
but they are opposed to a national safety wall (?).
The hyphenated-named lady must have butterflies in her belfry !!!
I suggested this same solution years ago for ranch property owners objecting to a wall on their south line.
Texas had and still has a Land Patent Law, so no easement from them was given to FDR from the state of Texas.
Oops!
I Think The Texas General Land Office is headed by George P Bush.
Hmmm...
I like it! I like it a lot!
I wonder how many of these liberal organizations on the border have tunnels to the other side.
Well played sir!
may be used for public highways but for no other purpose whatever,
Perhaps a really tall center median?
I won’t send my picture but I am the Executive Director of the local sand gnat conservatory. The goal of our organization is to protect all of the gnats in our refuge so the locals won’t kill or otherwise harm these wonderful creatures.
We have excellent support from the local population because there are no gnats yet seen here.
We have no issue with our Federal Government building a wall straight through our facility. The only problem is that we are not located on the border.
That is Lee Trevino’s daughter who married Jim Wright, D-TX?
they are unenclosed free-range butterfies that travel for miles and are sure to encounter noisy farming equipment along their wanderings. Caterpillers don’t have ears.
She has a GoFundMe, started at the end of last year.
Her location says NJ. Not sure what that’s about.

This is why the judiciary should have no say for national security. Can you imagine of we ran world war II this way?
