I saw South Pacific live on Kauai, where the movie was filmed, and some of the original cast from the movie performed. It was awesome.

Broadway musical revues were a staple in the years around World War I, but they would eventually be supplanted by radio. This show played in the last years of vaudeville. The world was changing.

”I GOTTA RIGHT TO SING THE BLUES”

Tonight is dedicated to a song that has survived 87 years and has been recorded by all the greats.

Satchmo got the hit in 1933. This re-mastered recording sounds like it was placed on digital media just yesterday.
