Its hard to keep up with everything going on in Washington, but if theres one thing constantly humming along in the background, its the Republican effort to push through President Donald Trumps judicial nominees.
The Senate Judiciary Committee voted Thursday to send 44 of Trumps court picks to the Senate floor for a confirmation vote. Thats a huge number at once; progressive judicial advocacy groups dubbed the committees hearing a monster markup.
Most of these nominees were introduced in the last Congress but didnt get confirmed in time, so Republicans are expediting them in one big batch.
Thursdays action comes as Trump has already drastically reshaped federal courts. To date, he has seen 30 circuit judges, 53 district judges and two Supreme Court justices confirmed. Thats so many circuit judges ― more than any other president had confirmed by this point in his first term ― that 1 in 6 seats on the U.S. circuit courts are now filled by judges nominated by Trump.
But Democrats and progressive groups arent just alarmed by the number of Trumps picks sailing through. Many of these nominees have spent their careers attacking LGBTQ rights, abortion rights and voting rights, and now theyre on their way to holding lifetime seats on federal courts.

Cool...
It’s nice to see that Linda Graham found her balls and is actually using them. You go, girl.
“Drastically” reshaped.
Nope. No bias there.
OK, Lindsey, youve gotten a chunk of the nominees who were pending confirmation votes from the LAST Congress. Now get to work on the remainder of Trumps pending nominees; get them through your Judiciary Committee.
McConnell, time to do your job and schedule the limited 2-hour debates and confirmation votes for the ones forwarded from Judiciary.
President Trump, there are many other Judicial vacancies pending a nomination from you. Get them all vetted and given to Lindsey.
This is a Flake Memorial move.
From a related article.
Of the 44 judges the committee approved on Wednesday, 19 received approval in the last Congress, but were not confirmed before the end of the year. As is Senate practice, all nominees who were not approved were sent back to the White House and Trump eventually chose to renominate many of them last month.
Among the 25 who received approval for the first time, six are up for seats on federal appeals courts, including two nominees each to the Sixth and Ninth Circuits, as well as one to the Third Circuit and one to the Fourth Circuit.
The Senate is confirming conservative judges; the House is banning cows.
What are status of AOC and Nazi Pelousy then?
Three more judges nominated for 9th circuit, two for second circuit; these are in committee.
Several open positions in circuit court awaiting nominees, 1 3rd, 1 9th, 1 5th, and a slew in district court.

Good work, is it now McConnell's job to get these confirmations to the floor?
Can McConnell now change the amount of time for debate?
Kewel...
Ben, what else would you expect from the Puffington Host?
By the end of 2024 we should have about 700 of these wrapped up and two more SCOTUS and maybe another 5 feet of wall, which will be terrific
The baton has now passed to McConnell.
“The move comes as Republican Sens. Roy Blunt and James Lankford introduced a resolution that would again change the rules to make it easier to confirm district court judges by reducing the time of post-cloture debate from 30 hours to two.”
At 30 hours per, there isn’t enough floor time left in this year. Will still be as big or bigger backlog at the end of this year. Mitch and Rinos won’t let the 30 hours be reduced.
Trump's first group of judicial nominees in early 2017 was excellent.
Tragically, in late 2017, Trump reverted to the “traditional” method of appointing judges - he allows the regional Senators, including RINOs and Democrats - to recommend nominees.
As far as I know, Trump has turned down zero recommendations.
Bottom Line - many of Trump's current nominees are definitely NOT Conservatives.
I love how when they do it , it is OK. When we do it, it is “drastically reshaping”. This presumes the court is “correct” or “normal” in a liberal configuration and is being destroyed when it is being pulled to the right.
Poor Huffington Post folks. They don’t realize that the only change will be that our Constitution will be adhered to.
This isn’t a witch hunt to root out and execute Communists. Hmmm...
It’s simply the courts going back under the official rules of law for the nation.
Oh the huge manatees...
