When you ask a question at a lecture, is it secretly just your opinion ending with the phrase do you agree? If so, your name is something like Jake, or Chad, or Alex, and you were taught that your voice is the most important in every room. Somewhere along your academic journey, you decided your search for intellectual validation was more important than the actual exchange of information. Now how do you expect to actually learn anything?
American society tells men, but especially white men, that their opinions have merit and that their voice is valuable, but after four years of listening to white boys in college, I am not so convinced. In my time at Dickinson I have listened to probably hundreds of white boys talk. It feels incessant. From classes and lectures, to the news and politics, there is an endless line of white boys waiting to share their opinions on the state of feminism in America, whether the LGBTQ+ population finally has enough rights, the merits of capitalism, etc. The list of what white boys think they are qualified to talk about is endless. Something very few of them seem to understand is that their (ill-informed, uncritical) opinions do not constitute truth. In fact, most often their opinions arent even original. White boys spout the narrative of dominant ideologies and pretend theyre hot takes instead of the same misleading garbage shoved down our throats by American institutions from birth.
I am so g****mned tired of listening to white boys. I cannot describe to you how frustrating it is to be forced to listen to a white boy explain his take on the Black experience in the Obama-era. Hey Brian, Im an actual Black woman alive right now with a brain. In what world would your understanding of my life carry more weight than my understanding? Unfortunately, it is this world, where white men debate the pain of other people for fun and then take away their rights. The second thing most white boys seem not to understand is that they do not exist separate from the rest of the world. You do not speak alone, you speak with the weight of every other white man who has spoken over a woman, erased the contributions of queer people from history, or denigrated broken English as unintelligent. You speak with the weight of policies and laws meant to forever define intelligence by how it measures up to the bros of America.
So, should white boys still be allowed to share their opinions? Should we be forced to listen? In honor of Black History Month, Im gonna go with a hell no. Go find someone whose perspective has been buried or ignored and listen to them, raise up their voice. To all the Chrises, Ryans, Olivers, and Seans out there, I encourage you to critically examine where your viewpoints come from, read a text that challenges you without looking for reasons to dismiss it, and maybe try listening from now on.
I went to Catholic schools then too. In my experience, I was ignored at best or totally invalidated at worst...one Jesuit actually stomped into the classroom with test results, furious that I had the highest grade on a particularly difficult if not impossible test. This horrible attitude toward the mere girl that I was caused me to drop out of school....
They're called "caledonias".
Yeah, like we’re so impressed with what you ‘black people’ have done with your lives. We should all just shut up and watch you destroy the rest of your lives too.
What did liberals expect to happen with all of this “white privilege” nonsense they spew? She is simply stating what the lefties have taught her.
The real question is whether white boys should see themselves as a group with interests, band together, and assert those interests. That’s likely to happen at some point, and it will not be pretty.
If you are a white boy who takes offense to this article, then its probably about you. Its about a tendency we all have that is given to us by a society which conditions us to believe that if we talk long enough, we can make anything right or wrong. We want people to think what we say is correct more than we actually want it to be correct. Is the articles headline click-baity or misleading as some have suggested?Democrat candidate for state office any day now, I bet.Who cares? This is an article in a college newspaper. There are a LOT of things that are genuinely poorly written. If thats your issue with this paper, then go attack the other articles too.
And they wonder why “normal white people “ are beginning to embrace Identity politics. You’d be shocked at the amount of people who are beginning to listen to folks like Jared Taylor.
Pig faced loser that nobody wants to hear from.
Shut up, ******.

My dear fellow American,
1. You were never a slave, get over it.
2. You live in a country where the sky is not the limit, only the chip on your shoulder.
3. You need to stop whining and start doing something productive. You know the definition of productive, right?
4. Now STFU, because most people dont give a s#$t how you feel about anything.
Love and Kisses,
White Gal who does not use her gender as an excuse for anything and does not care about your black experience just like you dont give a crap about the Asian experience or the Dutch experience or the Polish experience.
The real question here is whether a federal investigation is warranted when an institution in receipt of federal funds uses those funds to advocate the commission of civil rights violations to a broad class of protected individuals.
These people watched Black Panther and thought it was a history lesson and a guide to living all rolled into one. When it came out, there were several endorsing barking when whites spoke.
I am so g****mned tired of listening to white boys.
Really? Then take your juvenile racism elsewhere, say, Africa and make us all happy
Except for the Africans, of course
She never watches cable TV. Every commercial, the white guy is the bad guy or stupid. Every sit com the white guy is fat, lazy and/or dumb. All the minorities are noble, smart and heros. Little girls beat up grown white guys.
Black Panther was shown free in some theaters to “Celebrate Black History.” Huh? WTF does a fake black nation have to do with actual black history - or black present Africa?
It’s actually rather sad that some fake nation has to be created by Hollywood liberals to hide the public from the truth that Africa is indeed filled with many “sh*thole” countries.
In a real world that would be the question. Here in Clown World we already know the answer. Honk honk
The question should be “Kill white boys on the spot?”
Biggest argument for legalized prostitution, IMO, is the state of young women today and our JustUs system.
We need to go ahead and get the dance going.
