Since when has he not been part of the liberal wing right from the start? He actually DID vote to uphold a similar Texas law in 2016. So, this would be a major flip-flop if he doesn't vote to uphold this law.

Well, he hasnt been part of the liberal wing. He has been slightly to the right of the center if we apply political terminology to judicial matters. Without Anthony Kennedy he is likely to become a new “swing vote.”
