Hmmmm ... let’s see if I’ve got this straight. The attackers poured some bleach on his clothes ... not the whole bottle ... then they capped the partly used bottle of bleach and took it with them when they ran away. It must have been difficult to screw that lid back on while either punching or running in sub freezing weather.
Bleach freezes at 19°F.
They must have hit him with it..................
