They’ll spend most of it on wine, women and song. The rest, they’ll just waste.

Is the $1000 per month on top of, and in addition to, whatever public assistance these people are already getting?

Days after choosing political retirement over the uphill battle for a third term, Mayor Rahm Emanuel asked retiring Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th), who has championed the cause of income inequality, to chair a task force to consider universal basic income in Chicago. On Thursday, that task force, co-chaired by SEIU Local 1 President Tom Balanoff and Celena Roldan, CEO of the American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois, proposed a path forward.
Their 50-page report proposes that Chicago forge ahead by giving 1,000 people $1,000-a-month, which adds up to $12 million a year, to be bankrolled by an unspecified mix of city funds and philanthropic dollars.
Hmmm, free money with no accountability or responsibility. What could go wrong?

If they think that will “break” the “cycle of poverty” they’ve been smoking the same crack that this $1,000 will buy.

The first $1,000 will go towards a nice 75inch 4k TV, and the other $11,000 will go towards pizza and beer and Mary-Juana, while tossing some of it back towards the re-election of whatever democrat proposed the program to begin with.

They’ll waste it on drugs.
Or anything else.
Giving people free money does not teach financial responsibility.

To stay on the list, $500 each month back to the political sponsors will do. The Clintons and Obama have taught us well.

Chicago obviously has too much cash on hand.

$1000.00 a month is nothing to prevent poverty with the cost of living today!!
