Funny thing, many of us warned against Roberts when he was nominated. Some of us also warned against W Bush himself, who did exactly in Washington as Prez, what he did in Austin as Guv: move the Supreme Court to the left. This, from the man who vowed to nominate only “strict constructionists”.
The head of the Texas Education Association once referred to Bush as a “Texas Democrat”.
People don’t realize exactly *how* much of a “progressive” Bush was. Some would be shocked, just based on his time as TX governor.
I’m glad Bush won. He was better than Al Gore and John Kerry.

He bought that ranch in Crawford (just down the road from me) shortly before running for president and then pretty much stopped using it after being president. (it was all for show)
The dude was a freaking yankee, posing as a Texan, and many of the things he did like appoint Roberts reflect that.
It was with his nomination that we saw that there is indeed a Deep State that controls nominations (until President Trump overwhelmed their tyranny). On FR there was a very vigorous and vocal group of potatoEheads who wanted Dan Quayle. Think about it. Quayle was vilified as dumb for using an alternative spelling of potato(e). That got us GWB, who we probably won't be seeing at any Mensa meetings, even as a guest.
Think about it. We could've had Quayle/SteveForbes in 2000 instead of GWB/Cheney. How do we even begin to measure the damage that has occurred because that nomination was rigged?
