I believe it depends upon individuals. When I had 5 broken ribs, I found Tylenol PM worked better that morphine or any OXY stuff. The narcotics made me feel trapped in my head and could not escape, e.g. trapped n a nightmare. Refused the narcotics and stuck with Tylenol.

Scary for me as Tylenol has acetaminophen. An overdose can damage your liver or cause death. Already have cirrhosis (non-alcoholic). So I go for as little as possible and endure the pain, it will go away, death does not. And cannot figure pout for the life of me why anyone would or could become an addict. JMO.

I can’t quite buy this, but I’d like to hear from people who have more experience than I do with opioids.

Does tumeric really help? I’ve thought about trying it.

Dr. McNett (aka McNut)is a quack. But he runs the Aurora Pain Clinic which is a part of the biggest hospital system in WI. He also has headed up the Opioid task force in WI. He has helped to write the opioid guidelines for WI State Medical Board.

So, yes he a quack. But he’s a dangerous quack. I wouldn’t be surprised if he acts and an “expert” witness pimping himself out to the DOJ to testify against doctors.

I would try Celebrex. Except the slow motion commercials. Weird. Creepy.

Bull crap

When I had my son, the post partum pain was so intense I thought something was wrong. The nurses kept giving me Tylenol and Advil. Nothing touched the pain. I got two doses of Ozy which was enough to allow me to tolerate the pain for about 18 hours until started to heal. This is complete crap

I was on opiates for about three months—oxycontin and the like. Prior to that I’d nearly burned my stomach out taking n-saids. I promise you, the opiate was tons better.

When I started getting off of them after mending, my pain doc told me that opiates were actually some of the safest drugs to quit. Unlike some of the synthetics, he said, “nobody dies from opiate withdrawal.” Not comfortable, but tolerable.

Opium is a gift from God to sufferers.

Everybody is different.

My younger brother became addicted to hydrocodone following spinal surgery. He was in constant severe pain and he was a junky.

He finally sobered up after totalling two vehicles and having zero recollection of either accident.

Now he uses cannabis and ibuprofen, and suffers much less pain than he did when he was eating oxy all day and night. And he can have a conversation without asking half a dozen times “what were we talking about?”

Key words here may be “some opioids”. If the pain is truly awful (11 on the Borg scale of 1 to 10), nothing works quite like a few drops of morphine in the old IV. Suddenly it’s a bright and shiny morning and all that pain is off in someone else’s body. For longer term chronic pain and addiction to drugs that require steadily increased dosages for effect he’s probably right. Same dosage after a month won’t have the same effect and the craving and withdrawal can be worse than the pain.

I had skin cancer removed from my face on Tuesday and was given a prescription for Tramadol. During surgery I bled like my artery had been cut. They were stitching and cauterizing at the same time to get it stopped. Yes, I went to the best skin cancer specialist in TN and had the MOH’S surgery done. The stitching was done by their cosmetic surgeon. I’m cut from the side of my nose down into my lip. My face is hideous with swelling. Today is 48 hours after and I’m supposed to change the bandage but I’m terrified to do it.

I didn’t take the Tramadol. I did take an ibuprofen that stopped the pain but nothing, not even ice, works on this swelling. I called yesterday and they said it is completely normal because the face is so vascular and has so many nerves. After the first night I haven’t had anymore bad pain but the swelling is still there. My daughter said I would scare small children so she is getting my groceries tonight. LOL

I can’t imagine going through this to make my face pretty. I don’t mess with skin cancer though. I didn’t take the Tramadol because I thought it might make me sick and with a face this swollen I don’t need to barf.

My experience is that opioids do little for pain, and cause some nasty side effects.

I did take a few hydromorphone pills last week after having surgery. On the second day, I took one at about 11 pm and had the immediate thought that that was the last one I needed.

Tylenol does not do much for me. I take ibuprofen, and it does wonders for pain. Mostly, it reduces inflammation, which helps with the healing process as well.

My dentist told me about studies showing that combining extra strength acetaminophen and ibuprofen for pain following dental surgery worked as well if not better than prescription opioids. So this is not new information.

Fresh tumeric is supposed to be a potent anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory plant. Since we don’t care for the taste, we cut it in little pieces and put them in a 000 size capsule.

Moringa is very anti-inflammatory as well. It is one amazing plant!!

Anyone taking aspirin should take DGL with it...deglycerrhized licorice....saves the stomach. I know...but it won’t save you from Tinnitis.
