From reading at your link, it looks like the President can request ANY returns of ANYBODY, probably without stating a reason. Maybe Shiff-for-Brains, Mad Maxine, et al, should be given a printout of that section of the code. LOL

And, of course, if they are provided the return or tax info of Trump ** behind closed doors in executive session ** and they divulge that information, they are subject to federal investigation and prosecution for it.

But with the current Dept of Injustice and Fibbies, I wouldn’t hold my breath about such investigation into any of the “protected” class or elites - or both.

Anyone who doesn't think the President's tax returns will get leaked is delusional.

I looked at VATs and like you. I see them as scam taxes. They are hidden and easy to abuse taxpayers with.

I’m sorry I drew attention to a side issue of eliminating the income tax. It is just disturbing to see in the open how income tax laws are used for political attacks. A consumption tax which is not a VAT would be easy to enforce and much more resistant to abuse than an income tax. That’s what got me started.

That’s fine. We are basically a civilized group. We basically agree, but I cannot see the (D)eath & (D)estruction Party folks letting a sales tax go thru; they will wine and moan about the “poor”. Many of the “poor scam the system, claim benefits and work off the book or run a business as an “owner” with -0- taxable income accruing to them or skimming SS payments to place on their return (if a return would benefit them.)

Once the government put welfare into the tax system, the whole thing jumped the tracks. E.g. “earned income” credits, etc. They turned the Tax System into a ripe plumb for the scrounges to pick.
