Trump Reverses Wage-Boosting Campaign Commitment, Demands More Legal Immigration: ‘We Need People’
Breitbart ^ | 2/6/2019 | John Binder

President Trump is reversing his campaign commitment to reduce overall legal immigration levels to the United States in order to raise the wages of America’s working and middle class, as he is now demanding more immigration.

During his State of the Union (SOTU) address this week, Trump went off-script while discussing national immigration policy, saying he wanted to admit “the largest numbers ever” of legal immigrants to the country.

“Legal immigrants enrich our nation and strengthen our society in countless ways,” Trump said. “I want people to come into our country, in the largest numbers ever, but they have to come in legally.”

Currently, the U.S. imports more than a million legal immigrants annually, with the vast majority deriving from chain migration, whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country. In 2017, the foreign-born population reached a record high of 44.5 million.

The U.S. is on track to import about 15 million new foreign-born voters in the next two decades should current legal immigration levels continue. Those 15 million new foreign-born voters include about eight million who will arrive in the country through chain migration. This booming legal immigrant population has not only rapidly shifted the demographics of the nation, but research indicates it will hand over all electoral dominance to Democrats in a matter of decades.

Mass legal immigration has come at the expense of America’s working and middle class, which has suffered from poor job growth, stagnant wages, and increased public costs to offset the importation of millions of low-skilled foreign nationals.

Trump’s off-script comment, though, seems to be his preferred immigration stance, as he is now telling reporters he is doubling down on his mass legal immigration statement, claiming there will be a labor shortage if we don’t admit more

You better be right, because if you're wrong, we were sold a bill of goods again.

I think Coulter's worries are shared by a lot more than you think.

Looks like Breitbart posters are smarter on the issue than the average Freeper.

They always leave out the 'at the wage we're willing to pay' part of the equation. You keep jacking that wage up and they will have more applicants than they know what to do with. It's the whole 'raising the wages' thing that they object to because that cuts into profits for them.

The real trick is to see which ones will raise wages and which ones will spend that money lobbying congress to change laws to allow cheap labor into the country to increase profits.

Oh, and then they'll tell the rest of us to "Learn to Code......."

Another sample of the great posts at Breitbart:

Only took the Globalists a little over 2 years to get to you and subvert your position on immigration.

I remember you saying you wanted to STOP all immigration until such time as we could figure out what was happening. I guess you figured it out all by yourself.

Did you have help from the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR? I remember when you said they should be banned from operating in the US since they are BOTH TERRORIST organizations.

Exactly. The unemployment number doesn't reflect those who are underemployed or not being counted. It's a fraudulent number. Plenty of people are available. Perhaps not at the 50% of average wage rates companies like to pay h1bs. THIS is all about wage suppression and age discrimination, not shortage.

I know for a FACT, that companies often receive large amounts of fully qualified applicants for tech positions but would rather leave the jobs unfilled than hire an American over 40 years old, sometimes regardless of asking salary. Obviously YMMV and this doesn't apply to every company, but I've seen it at four companies first hand.

I just see a sea of Patels from India stealing
American kids jobs straight out of college .

You are too far removed from our college kids world they are being screwed.

I know numerous kids facing a future of underemployment because they are not cheap foreign labor that big corporations save millions on .

You need to really visit that world

You compared brilliant scientists fleeing Hitler to the Sea of Indians Chinas and Paki stealing Americans white collar jobs because they are cheap and they are tax perk .

Visit Franklin
TN and see the Sea of Indians that stole previous American engineering jobs at the Nissan plant or Greenville SC same situation .

Its a disgusting disgrace to treat your fellow countrymen this way .

Thanks for your helpful Comments.

The OPT numbers from Wiki look strange - there were 275,000 total OPTs in 2017. It's possible the Wiki numbers are just first year OPT applicants and do not include renewals.

After reviewing the relevant data for the last three years on the number of Chinese STEM grad students, OPTs, H-1Bs, Green Cards, and Naturalizations, the number of Chinese nationals in each one of those categories has gone up almost every year, and China is ranked #1, #2, or #3 in each one of those categories.

To me, it looks like Chinese students and adults are at or near the country quota for almost every USA program they can apply for.

Re: “So you would refuse a future Einstein or Von Braun.”

If the price tag is millions of new Democrat voters and hundreds of thousands of completely average engineers and scientists from Third World countries, then, yes, I would refuse Einstein and Von Braun.

I didn’t know the situation was any different in their home countries. I suppose they have some kind of caste system which partially explains the uptick of violence in Western European countries.
