American exports to China are (way) down from last year, China just set new all-time record surplus.

Sorry but it seems like there is some effort to make a claim, that the trade situation with China is improving...

Nope.

It is getting worse. American exports to China are (way) down from last year, and we just set a new all-time bad trade deficit last year with China.

A world record, all-time high. Ever. Between any two countries. In the entire history of the WORLD.

The worst ever.

And the data does not even include December yet.

you’re highlighting the only dark cloud in an otherwise bright trade report. and it’s a brand new dark cloud.

I don’t remember them ever fretting year over year results until trump . . .

The National Sentinel reported today that the latest trade figures, from November, show an unexpected narrowing of the trade deficit, largely from China:

“a brand new dark cloud”

Not new at all.
Notice the peak in Oct.
Expecting new numbers to show a decline.

IMO Trump gave our companies a year to move their investments and supply chains out of China.

Hmm.

Does anyone note some slanted coverage anywhere?

Just asking.

The data for last month is in and they are highlighting a big drop from December. But compared to last year it’s still up 10%. It’s just December was an exceptionally bad month.

Raise the tariffs, and the ones for critical industry permanent.

Couple of charts only on tariffed goods:

In the big picture, the tariffs work- but they are very, very small potatoes.

We need an across the board 20% import tariff. This will take the politics out of it.

No how about you telling us the virtues of free trade. Free trade that has seen the erosion of the middle class, the outsourcing of jobs for cheaper labor. I’m not against free trade, and neither is President Trump. However, China has been ripping off this country for decades, and it has to stop.
