Why would an immigrant want to change the culture of his adopted country to recreate the culture he fled?
So are this nation's elites (Zuckerberg,Obama, etc, etc) and that's why *they* have 30 foor high walls around their multi million dollar estates.
Sez the imaginary journalist...
Why fling this dung on the wall?
It is necessary to have a vision of your ideal, because dwelling on past mistakes as a basis for government usurpation of our freedoms is a path to tyranny.
Why post this crap? It’s a waste of time.
I’m not reading any negative stuff on our president or his speech or listening to egg heads like the bald@ss California Congressman from California last night who claims the Trump economy was inherited from Obama.
It is not their culture they are running from, they let some dictator get in by promising them a free hand out and when it don’t happen they start raising hell and they become his enemies.
Undocumented immigration? LOL. Illegal entry is the correct term.
That's an easy one.*My* ancestors (and,I'll bet, yours too) knew that there was no welfare,no food stamps,no Medicaid,no free cell phones and no Section 8. IOW they knew that if they didn't work, they'd starve. And they knew that the best chance they had of financial security was to become *Americans*.
I am one generation removed from Europe. My parents both grew up in a slum during the Depression. They worked damn hard and,by the time I was born, had made it to the suburbs. Thanks to this great country, and my parents' hard work,I've had a great life....and now the Rat Party is trying to deny our grandkids that same life.
I've been to "The Old Country".A more drab, depressing cesspool you couldn't imagine.I'm thankful that my ancestors had the courage to come here. P>And ten bucks says that that same story applies to 99% of Freepers.
Zach Beauchamp, whoever he is, doesn’t know S4!& from S4!n@L*.
Every fake racism accusation is an ode to an imaginary America.
The elitists telling hard working Americans that WE live in a fantasy world
Right, I'm sure if millions and millions of Latin Americans moved to an Asian country like Japan, its people would love them.
Usual leftard lie. In the context of a free rational capitalist country, there is no conflict of rational self-interests, and when the rich get wealthier, the masses get wealthier too. An increase in inequality is irrelevant.
And Vox’s pining for Socialism isn’t a fantasy vision of the USA?
The author basically proves Trumps points.
Muslims do it all the time. Flee their 4th world sh*tholes and then endeavor to turn their new homeland onto burkas, sharia law and separationn of the sexes.

Is this like the imaginary jobs that Vox writers believe they have.....for much longer?
Plus there were a couple of Holocaust survivors. Does he think that was imaginary too?
They’re all about the identity politics. In their view, only “white” Americans are concerned about illegal immigration.
I had an interesting conversation the other day. Out of the blue, this lady I was talking with (related to work) asked me what I thought about the President: is he doing the right thing? I told her that, honestly, I believe that he is.
She told me that she agrees with me, and her son, even more so. This lady and her son belong to a group of people who are supposed to be “them” in the “us vs them” narrative. She told me that her father had come to the US from Mexico. She told me that he did it “the right way” and that he had “papers.” She remembered her parents discussing his “papers” when she was a child and that it was very important to them that he was here legally. He had, by example, taught his children the importance of obeying the laws as well as the importance and value of hard work.
They are irate that people like Pelois and Occasio-Cortez (that woman that thinks she knows everything is how she referred to her!) don’t support the President and want to allow all manner of people into the country, most of whom we know nothing about. I don’t think they are feeling much “ethno-cultural threat.”
What’s more, they aren’t alone. The left doesn’t seem to realize that, just because someone’s parent, grandparent, or even more distant ancestor came here from Mexico, does not mean that that person automatically wants to let people just roam across the border at will.
